Bazzer Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 A non sequential 6 speed Caterham gearbox is £2300 so £3k for a 240BHP engine and 6 speed box is a bargain. From what I gather though making it fit is not straight forward and gear ratios with the available sierra diff options is not ideal. Cheers Bazzer Quote

However they're much better if you use the Freelander diff. Freelander diff is 3.21 isn't it and the S2000 diff is 4.1 so with a freelander diff would it not be geared for over 200mph ? Or is there a shorter Freelander diff available, being a BEC man I only know about the tall one :-) Bazzer Quote
Al Yupright Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Yes. There is a >4 ratio freelander available. Westfield are using it in the duratec cars too. I'm pleasantly surprised the freelander diff can take the torque Quote

leighc Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 try this.... Dunno if this is a bargain or not. Seems to be tho? Quote
SteveF Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 It's only a bargain if can fix the low oil pressure & add the bits you're missing The guy who's selling this had it as a spare for the autograss racer engine that was also on eBay. I've talked to this guy a few times during my efforts to fit an F20C in a Westie (still ongoing), and he did some good work with Jenvey & Omex to get it running with individual throttle bodies & a mapped ECU. From what I can see though - he's struggling to sell the race engine for anything like what it's cost him to develop - best offer he got last time it was on ebay (it's been on about 3 times now) was £1250 - which wasn't above the reserve If you're serious about the engine - there are at least 2 people who come on this BBS who are running the engine in a Westie, and a couple more in the build / preparation phases, and a few more in other places with some knowledge & experience Edited to add an update - the race engine is now at £1500 on eBay and has passed it's reserve. There's also another which is only at £102 - but this says it has the honda ECU - but doesn't mention the key+barrel - without which the ECU is useless Steve Quote
leighc Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Edited to add an update - the race engine is now at £1500 on Steve Yeah saw that after I put the link up. Bet that autograss thing was quick with that in Quote
