s2000 engine package whats it worth

Recommended Posts

I've been offered a honda s2000 engine/box loom clocks ecu etc etc everything to get it running.

What should I be paying for the above.

Its those manchester lads, making me spend my money again, itching to get back into a westy :-)

plan is ( as money is tight ) get engine package first, then get an old SEIW with a crap engine in the winter and do a transplant.

Also I know its been done before in a westy does anyone know who it is or their build site.

Cheers

John

I reckon about £1000 to £1200, any less would be a bargain. Not an easy fit though - there has been a bit of discussion on here in the past on the subject.

At the risk of sounding rude - have you tried a search?

They go for a lot more money than that, mate of mine bought the package for £3k and thought it was a bargain!  That was, engine, loom, ecu, box, rear diff, driveshafts.

I was under the impression the engine was too tall, be interested to see the engine installed.

See here

there are loads of threads, you might try putting honda AND s2000 in the search engine

I agree with Leon. Going price for an engine/gearbox combo seems to be well above 2 grand. Anything less is a serious bargain. I would suggest that if money is tight, looking at an S2000 Westfield transplant/rebuild is probably not the way to go...

I was offered an 8000 mile engine from a local auto salvage shop for £3000....I reckoned that was a very good price  :)

£3000 or more, must be the going rate for an engine, gearbox, etc etc

Is it the one on Ebay? I have been in contact via email and I was not convinced the bloke sounded genuine!!!

In my opinion!

I know of one person who picked one for about 750 quid, so bargains can be had if you look around.

It's only an engine after all....

Cheers for the reply, I've tried a search and nothing comes back for honda s2000 but if I put in s2000 i get back all rs2000 entries :-(

Its not the one on ebay its already out of the car its a 2003 package with 14k for £2500

If it's genuine then that sounds pretty good value.

:-)  morning paul, i was going to ring you later.

the guys just sent me some pics all looks very nice even has the immobiliser key and dash surround. the engine / gear box is split and engine has oil stains where the Gbox attaches but as I've had 2 bike engined beasteees this still will give me the sound red line 9k but also the reverse I was missing on a BEC.

Im going to get incontact with BLINK motorsport first to talk things through.

But it might be the answer to my next build :-)

I once saw an S2000 engine, gearbox, prop, diff, driveshafts, loom, ecu in CCC for £3k once. Didn't think anything of it at the time, I have since seem just and engine go for 3k. So what your looking at seems a fair price to me.

There is a guy on here put one in, George I believe, however he is in the States, so not excatly local to pop over and have a chat with.

I think I'd rather spend three grand (and maybe a bit more) and have a Duratec with an Elite sequential gearbox. The VTEC Honda with 9000 rpm rev limit is pretty attractive though.

Judging from rough prices mentioned on a few forums, I think you'd have to spend a fair bit more than £3k to get a 240bhp Duratec, let alone a sequential box too.
