SparkyB Posted April 26, 2005 Share Posted April 26, 2005 I'm considering getting a hood from Westfield this week (ready for Stoneleigh ) They have 2 hoods available, the standard and one for use with the RAC rollbar. At present I have a standard rollbar but I am intending to upgrade in the near future, so should I go for the RAC spec hood, or does it need the RAC roll bar to fit correctly? SparkyB Posted April 27, 2005 Author Share Posted April 27, 2005 Spoke to WF today...apparently the RAC spec hood doesn't work with a standard roll bar because it uses the RAC bar as a support.. Jam Posted April 28, 2005 Share Posted April 28, 2005 It is possible to use the standard hood with an RAC rollbar with no modifications at all. Using the rollbar as the only support mine just stretched on nicely. Be warned this is not so easy in winter. I have to place the hood over the bonnet with the engine running for about 10mins to get it supple enough to stretch that far. I'm usually the last person to leave track days now!
