Peter Cox Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 It's sad when anybody dies, especially if they (allegedly) are the primary conduit on earth for a superbeing that none of us are likely to encounter. However, I still keep thinking, with all the media attention and the millions of mourners, the fact that every 3 seconds, a child dies on the African continent. Quote
smithydar Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 in all honesty who really gives a s**t...he wasnt a young man so he's had a pretty good lifespan.. what about all the other people who die everyday..who dont even see so much of a life span... do they make the headlines..do they b++++x my old man worked hard all his life only to be taken away 1 year after he retired by a brain tumour.and nope !! he didnt make the headlines either. so personally i couldnt give a monkeys. and quite obviously all that god squad rubbish didnt help him much did it.. and thats got that off my chest so there darren im off to read the bible now to see where ive gone wrong.. michaelc Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 ...er... sort of get the impression that I might not be as universally welcomed in the WSCC as I thought... Michael C (aka Vicar of St. John High Legh & St. Paul Over Tabley) Quote
peterg Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 don't worry vicar, we're all a fairly tolerant bunch but when events like this happen a few people vent their feelings, please don't take it personally.... FWIW I'm atheist and have opinions about the Catholic church and religion in general but keep them (mostly) to myself as just like politics it usually just ends up in war enjoy the club and turn the other cheek for the non-car stuff you don't like Quote
pistonbroke Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Michael C (aka Vicar of St. John High Legh & St. Paul Over Tabley) Plenty of work for you here then Vicar Quote
Frau Vesty Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 or the millions of Africans who die of AIDS due to no condoms allowed to be used.Shake up required and modern day church for the god botherers needed. I don't agree with the Pope's stance on condoms, but: [Devil's advocate] if people took the whole message, i.e. not sleeping with anyone other than your spouse, then HIV wouldn't continue to spread at the same rate, condoms or not. It's people picking and choosing which bits of doctrine to stick to (or being ignorant and the Pope/Church not bringing that correction) that causes just as many problems...[/Devil's advocate] Quote
