adhawkins Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Or is this a case of the big boys all drive VXs? Even the short ones do Andy Quote
perksy Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Stick with the zetec, Head ,cams, Exhaust, Possibly T'Bodies = Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 I have a tuned Zetec and Vx and to be honest you are better off sticking with the Zetec as for the above mentioned points. The Vx is higher tuned than the Zetec and yes they will go on to make more power than the Zetec but the drivability will suffer. My Zetec car makes 210bhp and on the road is more than enough. The Vx is making an estimated 230bhp and is not as nice as the Zetec to drive you have to work it more. The Zetec will take WOT in any gear from 1500rpm up and not complain about it the Vx needs to be kept on the boil a bit more and only really starts to go above 5000rpm. That’s down to the choice of cams though and not down to the Vx or the Zetec being better than one another. Loosing some weight or putting a close ratio type 9 in the car may make a bigger difference than upping the BHP after all you must have close to 180bhp at the flywheel already Quote
Matt Crisp Posted March 28, 2005 Author Posted March 28, 2005 Cheers all for such erudite replies. I think its how you spell it!! Looks like its sort the 99/2lit and swap them over. The 150 bhp net engine is pre cat and will be 4 sale in a couple of months time with proof of age, build photos and receipts. Matt Quote

Matt Seabrook Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 Afternoon mate how’s the sprint car any further forward? Quote
Blatman Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 No Had a bit of a disaster revolving around not having enough ancillary bits 'n' pieces to complete the dry build of the suspension. I'm afraid it was mostly down to p*** poor planning on my part Hopefully a couple of trips out this week during lunch hours will sort that out, and we'll be able to proceed apace this weekend. Fingers crossed... Quote
neilb Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 haven't heard of any 4-ages generating big power You can get 220ish from a 16v 4age if you have the pockets 185-195 is not a big ask but does need the head to be done correctly - then again there is always the forced induction options Quote
