Warning - Compomotive wheels

Recommended Posts

Posted

I purchased 4 Compomotive CXR wheels recently. The backs of the wheels are not up to standard in my opinion, the front faces are fine.

Compomotive disagree and tell me they are fine and meet their standards.

I have pictures of the wheels to forewarn others who may be thinking of purchasing these wheels.

Pics can be seen here

regards,

Greg

I'm with you mate, they're pretty shoddy.

If you bought them with a credit card, see what their help dept have to say about it........

Well I bought them from George Polley, so I'm waiting for Steve to come back to me, then I'm onto the credit card company.

I've also heard that the valve hole drilling on these is not too brilliant  ???

Not good at all.

Straight back to Mr Polley I think.

The finish on those wheels is a disgrace and Compomotive should be embarrased by them and ashamed of themselves

BUT i'm sure you have to go through the retailer because he's the guy who supplied with goods that are substandard, after all these are 'show wheels' so are not fit for the purpose for which they were supplied.

Btw i have Compomotive Evolution wheels on my westy and four years ago when i bought them i couldnt fault the finish so i have no axe to grind, good luck.

Jeeesus they're crap. It looks like they've been used/ex-display wheels and may well have been re-powder coated!! A visit to Mr Polly. If he doesn't exchange them then explain to him very carefully his options......

Agree with all here.

I have a set of Comptomotive - guess what - I won't buy any more if you don't get replacements.....

I sure a few others will think the same...so post away and invite Mr Polley to come and have a look at his customers walking away from him........

yep very poor standard of finish

I would not buy any having seen this

Have to agree; having sold alloys for a few yrs...The finish you show is indeed crap.

Take 'em back to polley and get him to deal with compomotive.

Polleys should have checked them when they took delivery and not accepted them; but then in that state they shouldn't have passed compomotive qc.

Did you see the wheels before you paid up or were they mail order?

In polleys defence Steve is good re sorting any problems I've ever had (not many)

Greg they are bad,

My 13x7's were perfect, direct from compomotive. But still waiting for my 10x13 which were being specially made.

If they are anything like yours they will be going straight back.

So far my Compomotive experience is mixed. Delivered my first 4 wheels next day just as they said, but my other 2 that were suppose to be  10 days have so far been about 30-40 and I still don't have them. Plus they took the money ages ago, so they better move their  :arse: before I start claiming my money back.

I can't belive that they think the wheels are OK, no way would I accept these.

Mr Polley needs to exert some pressure on Compomotive.

I was considering a set of these myself but would not bother at least untill you get yourself sorted.

Why not copy this thread to Compomotive & Polleys.

they were purchased on 23rd october by phone, within minutes of them arriving those piccies were taken and emailed to Steve at Polley.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Steve at Polleys before I talk to the credit card company.

Looks like you've got some seconds, probably at a discounted price?

Remember that Compomotive stuff is mainly for rallying. Their wheels are designed to get you out of a stage without a tyre so I would imagine that their quality of the powder coated finish inside the rim is not too much of a concern to most people buying their products. I'd imagine therefore they'd let most things go out damaged at a discount rather than scrap them.

If you've paid the full price for your wheels I'd negotiate some money off then keep em.
