markcoopers Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 On second thoughts, if neither is making a noise, leave them alone. Seriously Gearbox and Diff are fit and forget as far as oil goes, unless you really think it is low or noisy. Was perhaps ahead of myself there with the previous post. Diff, from other posts you have an English diff/live axle yes? If so, on the back of the casing about half way up you will find a square drive plug. Undoo this, and if oil spils out, put it back and it's full. If not, fill it untill it does leak out. Gearbox I have never done, but on a type 9 (ford 5 speed) it is a plug on the passenger side, and would be very surprised if it is not the same proceedure. But I've never done this and frankly wouldn't bother unless you suspect an issue. Now you are going to ask which type arn't you, so I suggest you look through the recent post on Gearbox and diff oil, and you will find a post by Blatman that details out which EP and GL rating to find. It came up the other day so will not be far away. As for capacities, Burtons catalouge has alot of this info in it, I'll check it tonight if you still want it. Mark Quote
