Mark Stanton Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 oh and 6 "o" levels Ditto - and that was a quite a good achievement back in 1979 whats with all this 10 to 14 "O" levels being passed nowdays and they reckon they haven't got any easier ............ what a load of Quote
mud Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 1985 for me and it was quite good back then along with 3 cse grade 1 .i really don't know what is going on with 10 and 12 o levels nowadays.even the young lad that works for me who is training to be a spark got 12 passes and i think he's as numb as phuk when it comes to simple maths, but he's honest and turns up everyday on time which makes a change for a 16yr old lad Quote
smithydar Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 im all for capital punishment..the b******ds that could do this to an innocent child, definately dont deserve the luxury of a cell.im with the majority,if this happen to a child of mine,i wouldnt stop untill i got the evil lowlife.but i'd end up doing time for that.the justice system is what you might call, all to f+++ in this country.and to rub it in some more the thieving little sod that tony martin shot for burglary at his home is making money from it. i did get shot with an air rifle about 3 years ago while on sie at a quarry.the machinery was parked awaiting me to repair it .consequently i was a target for the bored dumptruck drivers.to cut a long story short he wont do it again as he was spitting blood.im not a violent person but this was just unacceptable and had to tell him. i think the gunman should be left alone with the parents and family of that poor toddler and see what happens.it would leave one space free in the prison. darren Quote
James Posted March 7, 2005 Author Posted March 7, 2005 early age with more and more tests that they have to sit do they sart at six years old now? I can remember have reading, spelling tests and "times table" tests at my infants school back in late sixties ................... what's the problem with that .............. how are teachers expected to assess each childs ability and pin-point areas to be addressed And....................... I can also remember kids having their mouths washed out with soapy water for cussing in the playground I had tests but the point I was trying to make Mark is that there are now more and more of these ofsted type tests which go way beyond a simple maths or spelling test all of wich I failed and I think these tests are going far to far Quote

Emma Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 The tests kids are doing now are ridiculous, and are just to prove how good a school is, its nothing to do with the child. My son has just finished his second round of MOCK Sats, with the real ones coming up in May. Now we did spelling tests/ maths tests etc, but they lasted about 10 mins in class. These Sats are real pressure, and go on for ages under exam conditions. Please explain to me why this is necessary for my 10 year old to undergo such stress. (I'd just like to say anyone who has met my son will back up the fact he is polite, respectful and doesnt go round beating up old ladies) Quote
