James Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I was on my way home last night when I heard on the news about this if you missed it heres the summery A todler of two years old was shot in the head on wensday by a Air gun pellet and not suprisingly he has died. Really what is wrong with the world? it seems like its being turned up side down and the lunatics are running the asylum! at the risk of being shot down (And I know I will be! I feel that capital punishment should be brought back! how can anyone justify doing this? To kill another person is always wrong and sick whatever the circumstance's (Other than an accident of course) but to murder yes murder an inocent child I think that debt can only be paid with your own life. No doubt the person responsable will be sent to jail to live the life of reilley and will be out in eight months with good behaviour! I expect the parents of the child will definetley feel that justice has been done! Lets not forget that this has ended three peoples lifes not just the poor little boy who's short life was ended by him suffering the most painfull and shocking death!!! I belive in an eye for an eye and fortunetly I have never experienced the pain of losing a child BUT if some one ever took my daughter from me I truley think I would kill them. To the parents of that child you have my deepest sympathy admiration and respect. Quote
jeff oakley Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I totally agree with you James although no doubt the culprit will have been appointed a laywer, barrister, social worker, pyscologist and one of them will decide he has been abused, marginalised, mistreated in some way which has caused them to behave this way. Cue the violins holidays abroard etc etc. Yes the lunatic do run the asylum and everything else. Jeff Quote

scott beeland Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Society as a whole is getting more violent/greedy/selfish. Yesterday I confronted a gang of kids(no more than 12yrs old) who were chucking stones at buses going past our estate. Among the abuse and pseudo threats that were coming out of their horrible mouths I asked them what they would think if it was one of them who threw a stone; that by chance went through one of their parents screens; causing them to crash into said wall; resulting in them dying. Various answers were "me dad doesn't live here anyway" "couldn't give a f*&%ck..he's a cu** anyway" "he wouldn't die coz he's hard" Now these didn't strikle me as clever; or nice kids I then asked them what would happen if they through a stone at a car and the person driving the car got out(as an example 4 doormen) to "sort them out"........Overweight 11 is yr old says....I'd fukkin stab the fat cu***s. Is it any wonder I flatly refuse to have any kids while we live in this city. Now I know I'd bring them up correctly but they've got to go to school; so very difficult to avoid them picking up some of these traits. It's trendy here (and many other places) for kids to grow up "hard". Those that are misguided( mostly by horrible parents) all aspire to grow up rude; feared "gangsta" style individuals. Rant over.... and as for capital punishment...Gets my vote (adults AND kids who are legally seen as able to make their own decisions and who know right from wrong). Oh and while we're at it; "decent" sentances for these orrible kids hell bent on ruining society like long jail terms; supervision orders WITHOUT early release for supposed good behaviour and not behavioural therapy "holidays; leisure activities and plush care homes. Give 'em hard labour; bring back the cane in school and get them into line Quote
cast iron Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 25 year ago I was playing on our local rugby field wen I felt a stabbing pain in my leg, someone had shot me with an airgun, luckily the distance meant it just stung and didnt break skin, it apeareed to be a another kid I could just see through a wire fence, but very woryingly he was with someone of adult stature. I beleive it all fell to bits when coppers couldt cuff a young un round the lug for cheek, same for teachers, and now even parents. My auty was a magistrate who gave up, 20 years ago, because of all the abuse from do gooders. She fined a speeding driver and the hate mail poured in as speeding potentially kills and he should of had a year and a mega fine. Locked up a rapist and apparently he should of just recieved couselling and it was an abuse of his rights to lock him up. I dont think the world is changing, we are just seeing more evidence of it Quote
James Posted March 5, 2005 Author Posted March 5, 2005 I dont think the world is changing, we are just seeing more evidence of it You may be right but it seems to me that years ago someone of a limited mental capacity would be sectioned these days (To save the goverment money) They are integrated into society is it any wonder why these people pick up guns and sart shooting people look at hungerford and also the problems that the states have had with gun men in schools! at least something was done about it years ago some effort of prevention these days it seems any lunatic can start shooting and as jeff say's claim they have had a miserable life and there given christ knows what to cope with the stress!!! and what is the goverments responce "Its a tradgedy" then if you recognise that fact MR Blair bl**** well do something about it!!!!! Hang on stop the world I want to get off!!! Quote
Monkeylegend Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 The worrying thing is that it reflects the way the current generation of parents have allowed our children to become materialistic, and fail to have any respect for anything or anybody. We all complain about it but we do nothing to change it. And before you all shoot me down in flames I include myself in this. Maybe we should be paying more attention to our children rather than to our pursuit of wealth and ownership of bigger houses and all the other trappings of modern life. It doesn't make us any happier than our parents generation who had nothing. Mind you I am 52. Maybe I should join a Monastery. Quote

Now where's my frock and sandals. Quote
jeff oakley Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I don't think you are too far off the mark Monkey, there is a problem with parents now who were not taught properly how to behave, if you watch any of the programes like eastenders, it shows people who work hard for a living as losers, and crooks, slags and murderers as heros. Cops are potrayed as the enemy and so called celebrities like Jane Goody becoming very rich because she was in a programe which showed her for what she was an uneducated loud mouth. We now see convicted crooks like Jeffrey Archer, Lord Brockett, Jonathon Atkin and the bald headed self confessed murderer(can't remeber his name) being given celebrity status and again being rich. As Scott says some feel it is trendy to bring your kids up hard and disrespectful, to take everything you can for free etc etc, what will happen eventually we that have managed to amass some money will leave to live somewhere else, or all move into gated communities and cut ourselves of fron the rest of the world. Quote
Monkeylegend Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Thought I might have been a lone voice there for a minute Jeff. Seen what Jade Goody has spent her money on recently? Poor girl, she has had her fair share of knockers since she appeared on Big Brother. Quote
welsh wizard Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 The worrying thing is that it reflects the way the current generation of parents have allowed our children to become materialistic, and fail to have any respect for anything or anybody. I'm the first one to blame the parents, and I've done it many times in the past, but sometimes some parents don't know what they're doing wrong. For example, in my job as a teacher, you can spot the kids that know how to play. They're used to the whole idea of taking turns, playing/working with other people and also accepting when someone else wins. When things don't go their way, they just take it as part of life. These are basic skills that they will need later on in life. If these concepts aren't learnt as a young age, then it has a knock-on effect as they grow older. We expect children to grow up too soon. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, you used to get the cheek etc from 18 years olds. Now you get it from 10 year olds and younger. It's not a surprise really. I am not excusing this kind of behaviour, but if the kids don't know any differently, then what else do you expect? Luned Quote
Monkeylegend Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Bring back National Service, teach them a bit of discipline. That should provoke a response God I'm starting to sound like my father, god rest his soul. Quote
