judder Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Surely you'd still be part of the "convoy" , you'd just have to organise your own overnight stays ? I think we should get wee rambo to post a picture of herself to put an end to the mystery. genuine pics only please ! Quote
adhawkins Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Surely you'd still be part of the "convoy" , you'd just have to organise your own overnight stays ? Unfortunately, I don't think it's as simple as that. The event has to have MSA approval (or something) and there are all sorts of hoops that the organisers have to jump through to do this. By 'tagging along' I imagine you may be putting future runnings of the event in jeopardy. I'm sure Si will be along shortly to offer some wise words. Andy Quote
judder Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 OH - probably for the best as you'd get the best part of everyone on here turning up ! Stevie Quote
judder Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 would've been great to see 96 Westys a stretch at the one time, almost hard to imagine. Photoshop anyone ? Quote
studbuckle Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I'm sure Si will be along shortly to offer some wise words. Well I don't know about 'wise words' but I can clarify a few things. The numbers are limted to a maximum of 50 cars for pretty much the reason Andy stated. We have sought and gained MSA approval for the route and we also liase with the Police, this is based on 50 cars max and if we exceed this then we run the risk of the tour having to be abandoned mid route and us not getting approval for future years. The coordination of 50 cars is also a big job and both Carla and I could not handle any more. In actual fact, the numbers who will be invited to come along on both days will more than likely be limited to the number of rooms available for our overnight stop. Therefore a few people who do not require accomodation for the Saturday will be invited along up to 50 car mark. I have to stress though that anyone just turning up without prior arrangement will not be welcome. The popularity and success of this event means that we are likely to make some changes to the format in the future to allow more people to take part but certainly for this year it's by invitation only and we will try to get as many people as possible involved. Sorry if this sounds harsh but I wanted to nip this in the bud before anybody made arrangements etc. Si Quote
pheatons3 Posted January 27, 2005 Author Posted January 27, 2005 This post seems to have lost the plot about 10 posts ago!!!!!! Please get back to the point, any one up for a curry? Paul Quote
judder Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Paul, After saying I can't make it, I'd still like to go - I'll make a point of getting home from work early and get through to Edinburgh. Cheers. Quote
dac3774 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Apologies Paul - I send the thread off at a tangent with the C2C nonsense! Judder, looks like you might also be stuffed for C2C if you are number 50, depending on the accomodation requirements of those before you In actual fact, the numbers who will be invited to come along on both days will more than likely be limited to the number of rooms available for our overnight stop. Therefore a few people who do not require accomodation for the Saturday will be invited along up to 50 car mark. Could do something similar north of the border - topic for discussion on the 21st? pheatons3 Posted January 27, 2005 Author Posted January 27, 2005 How about From "Forth" to "Clyde" via John O'Groats! SKCC used to do a "Grand Tour" 1,000 miles in 3 days up and over the top of scotland. Some of the roads are fantastic, no speed cameras or police, only sheep to worry about. (bet the "sheep" thing take this thread in a whole new direction ) The last time I went I spent 2 days in shorts and a t-shirt with no side screens. Midgie bites were terrible. For discussion onthe 21st Paul Quote
