adhawkins Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I think you are misunderstanding a little Paul In your last post you implied that you asked Dunnell what the exact spec of the engine was that was supplied to Westfield I disagree, someone said something to the effect of 'You could have got the same engine (I read into that, as the one Paul had built) from Dunnell for x amount'. Paul then replied that they wouldn't tell him what they do to the engine (i.e. one he could buy from them as a package. I think. Andy Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Just what has Mr Dunnell done to the engine as he won't tell me is the point at question Software costs a lot of money to develop Can I give you a call and then you tell me what you're working on ................. then I use that info to develop my own product ............. then sell it to your main competitor ............... or not Quote
Blatman Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I'm with Mark. If you'd paid to buy the engine from Dunnell, and then he didn't say what the spec was when asked, then a moan is fair enough. But as you're just asking for the hell of it, then I think Dunnell has every right to protect his intellectual property, as well as whatever deal he has with Westfield. Remember, there could well be confidentiality clauses in the deal between Westfield and Dunnell that we are unaware of. Confidentiality agreements are more common than you might think... Quote
8336 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Re Westfield XI I had a chat with Richard Smith on Friday, he confirmed a "K" would fit John G Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I heard of a guy fitting a Cosworth in his old XI - so possibly there is scope to fit an engine of your preferred choice in the current set-up But why a "K" Quote
Guest Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 What alot of people fail to realise and obviously blatters and mark have grasped this ,is that proper race engine builders will never ever divolge how thy get the power they are getting ,its how they stay at the front , Mr dunnel is primaraly a race engine builder and thats his main business and always has been . I have had engines from paul for while now and they do what he says and in all my years of different racing thats all i have ever asked , put me at the front, you build it i'll drive it , do you think kimi knows the spec of the macca engine or jenson the honda ? All serios race egine buildrs keep very quiet ,alawys have always will but look at the resuults they get througout the season Quote
