RICHARD+PHILIP Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 18 swg steel that's what I've got in my race chassis and that keeps cracking! :-( I think we should give Mick (MHC) Crytal ball of the year award although personally I suspect some insider information So road going sequentials next year then! Ian Podmore Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 The cost of a Caterham CSR for self build..... Base car in 200bhp trim £28,500 265 bhp option £5,500 Paint.... £795 Stack Dash £500 LSD £750 - can't believe that that's not standard maybe it's a mistake Track roll over bar £150 Lowered floor £500 Grand total £36,695 Weight stated as 570kg which can't be right.... or 456bhp/tonne The R400 and R500 aren't in the Caterham internet price list either, I wonder if they have been dropped from the range now? So the Westfield at £25k or so for self build for 250bhp isn't that bad compared to the 'competition', and when you take into account the additional heritage of the Westfield it's even better. Quote

Mark Stanton Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 So road going sequentials next year then! Too late the WSCC SS has had road-going sequentials for 2 years now if folks want to use one - Class E and Class F Quote

gee_fin Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Would you buy one over a Caterham CSR? That's exactly the question. As before, you'll get more Westfield for your money (£30k-£35k), however, I fear that people who are spending £30k+ on a sevenesque car will still be buying the Caterham. Credit where it's due though, well done to Westfield for offering a nice package with all the right bits people look for (with the exception of this elusive heritage). Out of interest, having never driven the Elite, how noisy is it (straight cut/helical?)? I've only got the video on our site of Dave Edmands to go by and the flatshift and exhaust drown out all the noise of the box in that case.... Quote
Jan Coombes Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I agree credit where credit is due. Well done Westfield. There was a time when they had there fingers well and truely stuffed in there ears. Well done, to who-ever posted them some Otax ear drops. Well done to everyone, looking forward to seeing it. Quote
moomin Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I agree, good effort, nice sounding car. Big price though, you can get alot of 'mainstream' production car for that nowadays. And in my experience Westfield kilograms are a bit like 'Microsoft minutes'. moomin Quote
Bananaman Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Anybody know the weight of the Ally cased Elite 6SS box in comparison to the Ally cased Quaife 6SS box... Also where has this info come from I carn't see it on the Westfield site Quote
gee_fin Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Elite 5 Speed Sequential Dogbox (Ford Fitting) 20kg Quaife 6 speed sequential, selector mechanism, hydraulic release bearing assembly, no oil 36.66kg www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/weight/engine_trans.html Quote
