mhc Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I,am a very patient man. Everything comes to those who wait. You can never uninvent that which has been invented, you can only ban it.Westfields new car will be eligible in the Midland Championship this season according to the MSA blue book ( 2B roading). But you all know how much i want to play in the Westfield Speed Series, regards. Mark Stanton Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 The new Westfield car is also eligible for the WSCC Speed Series - just not in the class you would like Don't forget though, in its current form the new Westfield would not be eligible for Class 2B road-going cos it uses Toyo R888 tyres which are list 1B Quote
Ian Podmore Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Don't forget though, in its current form the new Westfield would not be eligible for Class 2B road-going cos it uses Toyo R888 tyres which are list 1B Are you suggesting that Mick wouldn't be able to change the tyres Who's got £4,700 spare then? Or £25,000 Quote
Blatman Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Ally gearbox case might raise an eyebrow too. We all know the Quaife sequential is a type 9 with different internals. Internals are free to change, but the case must be of original material... That'll do it Quote
Blatman Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Oh, and Coming to the NEC now Blatters?? Worth a look!! Er.... no! What am I going to see? An SEi with a dry sumped Duratec. Big deal Whilst I may like the car (and I do), I don't need to see it to realise it may well be the most significant car Westfield has released since the XTR. With any luck, they'll drop the SDV like a hot spud and instead produce a range of all Duratec cars with differeing power options to suit differing budgets... Quote
scott beeland Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 But they're never going to satisfy the budget end if they do that blatters. Some peoples only way in to getting a westfield is to go the SDV route. I'm gonna have a good nose round it at the show....But I'll never be able to get one Quote
Blatman Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 But they're never going to satisfy the budget end if they do that blatters. Some peoples only way in to getting a westfield is to go the SDV route. I disagree. I think a resourceful individual would be able to build a wet sumped 2.0l Duratec using second hand bits and a SEiW body/chassis kit for decent money. A bog standard NEW Duratec from AMMO is only 1300 quid. Sure it won't be the all singing all dancing S2000, but it'd be as good as any other Q plate SEiW built by an enthusiast doing lots of recon work himself, with potential for sooooo much more. If it were me, I'd look at offering budget versions of Duratec engined cars, so that not only do you have a range leader, but you have another couple of models that would satisfy those on a more modest budget, AND you have the benefit of a catalogue of upgrade bits that will provide known results when fitted. Remember, Westfield have already done this with the Modular build "1800Q" as a budget model, with another couple of intermediate models up to the Speedsport as a "top of the range" model. The only thing I'm not sure of is how successful that marketing strategy was. If it worked, then I can't see why it wouldn't work with Duratec in place of Zetec... Quote
Blatman Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 My point exactly. You could put a Duratec in anything, but you don't need to buy a rotting Sierra to do it *unless* you want to keep the Sierra reg plate... Quote
scott beeland Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Gearbox is an ELITE sequential. About £3.3 k outright buy from them. Blatters.........But it's still a FORD engine innit Quote
adhawkins Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 And what's in my sprint car? A breathed on Pinto? Andy Quote
