Jan Coombes Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I'm going though my diary looking at events to do this year. I like the look of these but where are they? Thoresby Llys-y-fran Oliver mount Shelsley Walsh Quote
Richgm Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Let me start you off Shelsly Walsh Now as Blatters may say. Go forth and search Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Thoresby is in Notts a google search for Thoresby Hall Hotel will reveal exact location. Llys Y Fran is near Haverfordwest in South Wales again a google will help as its next to the reservoir Oliver's Mount is not far from scarborough - oop Norf for you Jan Shelsley Walsh - You gotta be kidding, you must know that Its at Shelsley Beauchamp in Worcester - the oldest circuit - Probably the most prestigious hillclimb in the U.K and its only about 35mins from me Quote
Blatman Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 And unless you or your Club has put it's hand in it's pocket for the "Save Shelsley" fund, chances are you won't get an entry... Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 now now ................ don't be like that Lets wait and see Quote
Blatman Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Er, the begging letter I saw actually said that entries in future would be based on who's paid and who hasn't, should entries be oversubscribed for an event. I'm only quoting wot they writ (sic) Unless the WSCC is a debenture holder in the MAC now... Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 The letter was not approved by MAC I have spoken at length direct with an MAC official who are only too pleased to see the WSCC in attendance - numbers of entries cannot be guaranteed for any event and with such a popular venue some folks will not get in Quote
Blatman Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 The letter was not approved by MAC Oooohhhh...... Did the MAC Committee ask the author to resign for gross misconduct? Failure to do so constitutes tacit approval in my book... Quote
Frau Vesty Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 You will find lots of useful information on all the venues, including locations, by doing a simple search here Quote
Jan Coombes Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 Oliver's Mount is not far from scarborough - oop Norf for you Jan Thats to far for me, strugling to make 10 Quote

Jan Coombes Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 I want to do the Brighton Speed trails too, this is another tricky one to get into. If I wright to the people orginsing the one that are hard to get into now, do you think I will have more luck in getting an entry? I noticed Delboy was at brighton this year. Quote
Gazza Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 Jan, Re. Brighton Speed Trials I'm a member of the Brighton & Hove MC and I sit in on the various meetings/post-mortems of the Speed Trials to date. Its probably one of the most over-subscribed events. Unless you're registered for any of the national sprint c'ships, basically you need to join the B&HMC (£17 p.a.) to be sure of an entry AND you need a Nat 'A' license for a full entry. As a member, you could do a single run in the Members Handicap for about £20 fee with a Nat 'B' licence if you just want to dip your toe - you'd have to do your 'practice launches' under cover of darkness with the local Nova kids the night before Hope this helps Quote
Jan Coombes Posted January 5, 2005 Author Posted January 5, 2005 I've managed to pick 10 rounds I just hope its not cold at Anglesey. Ref brighton So if I become a member and apply I just get 1 run. Quote
