Steve20
Looking to fit a carbon fibre dash from day 1, however have heard mixed reports on SVA compliance. Does anybody have a clear position on this? I am planning to use either Norwich or Leighton Buzzard for the SVA if that makes a difference. Cheers Steve
wills-Megablade
Im building my first kit so havent done the sva bit yet, however all my kit has been supplied direct from w/f including my upgraded carbon fibre dash. nothing was said in preparation for test and they knew its for the road so i assume its ok. I have heard of people having to loose the sharp edges with a dremmel and/or rubber surround just for the test.....
p.thomas
I fitted a carbon fibre dash and it passed the SVA at Cardiff. There was only one issue which I resolved beforehand. I used VDO guages and had to fit a large temporary Rubber O ring around the outside of the 52mm guages because they were not radiused. The normal dash would have been soft enough to have covered this. Hope this helps, Peter.
Graham
You might have trouble with the bottom radius, see here, about half way down... SVA Test But I doubt if you'll be *that* unlucky! Mine is the Westfield standard C/F dash and according to my SVA man the radius is only 18.5 mm, but only in the corners! Apart from that, watch for the radius on any guages not in the safe area. Steve20
Thanks guys, will be carbon fbre dash finished nicely with "o" rings on the instruments but hopefully without the need for Graham's designed water pipe and velcro! Appreciate the help and have a great New Year. Steve
