Cornholio351239
Hi. I'm just about to buy a 1989 Westfield SE which requires a bit of work before getting it MOT'd. The car is on a Q Plate and my main question is 'What should I watch out for in the MOT (emissions?)'. Is the MOT easier for a Q plate? There are probably numerous threads on this topic already but I can't seem to find one at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers. adhawkins
All amateur built cars are exempt from emissions testing in the MOT (visible smoke test only). A Q plate doesn't necessarily affect this, but can make it more likely that the tester will do the right thing. If you search hard enough, you'll find a thread detailing the exact bit of the MOT manual that covers this. Edit: feeling helpful, it's here (courtesy of Tim).
