chazpowerslide
I had to re-schedule my MOT for tomorrow and combined with that I'm using the garages kit to do a suspension set up. I'm fitting my adjustable top 'bones tonight and need an M18 tap to clear some crud/powder coating out of the ball joint threads. Can anybody come to the rescue. My mobile number is 07790300001 or PM me. I can drive a bit to collect tonight and there's a pizza in it too. Chaz.
Blatman
If you can, run some paint stripper/thinners/turps/a Dremel with a wire brush through it, to see if that helps. If you have a spare ball joint (I'm reaching......) then cut a couple of lengthways slots in the threads of that, and use that instead......I'm sure I don't need to tell you that it'll be 4 turns in, 3 turns out, 5 turns in 4 turns out, etc etc........ tomo
You can use a 22mm wire brush that plumbers use for cleaning copper pipe fittings. Cheap and easy to find. It worked for me. Simon
chazpowerslide
Thanks chaps this problem now sorted. I borrowed a tap from a local engineering company (M18x1.5) There was an awfull lot of crud in the threads. Adjustable 'bones now on the car and fine and dandy they look too!!! Just got to get the 'lectrics sorted now (see techi talk) Chaz.
