Carl Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Likely to get shot down but I wouldn't bother with any recon if your on a tight budget. 80k miles isn't allot. As long as compression is OK and it doesn't smoke too much don't even take the head off. Engines in kit cars generally have a very easy time of it in terms of duty cycle. Quote

I totally agree. my advise would be to drop the engine in - just change the cambelt and the oil/filter, and find another motor for rebuilding. They are not exactly expensive, and if you do muck up the rebuild, or blow it with all the power you have liberated, you have a spare then... Quote
Liam Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 I have 144bhp from a 2ltr Efi engine on 45's; 285 cam+vernier; lightened/balanced if that gives a guide. Quote
Ragtop Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 And if you takes stu's advise you can have the pinto 2.0 efi I have in my garage to overhaul in your own time. Drop me a PM and its yours Quote
Vincent Langan Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 I hope this helps...You may want to search "Esslinger" on the internet. The provide performance Pinto parts at a reasonable price. (located in the US). We have a Pinto at our track that has dyno'd at 167hp. Quote
