Pinto Carbs > > ? ? ?

Im in the process of rebuildinga 2ltr Pinto for me Westfield, Im after some advise on Carbs.....

Think of Webber 40`s or 45`s...

Firstly whats the difference? (DAft quetion i know)

Secondly any other reccomendations?

the difference is.....5.....ahum mm's in inner diameter.It all depends on what other mods you are going to be doing.If you are going mild,say a 285 piper cam and a ported and slightly larger valves,then the 40's will be fine.If you start heading to spending big money and looking at 150bhp upwards then the 45mm's wouyld be a better bet.

Go for 45's  :D  ;)  :D  ;) You can tweak em to suit for a lower powered spec car and once you want to upgrade to more BHP the 45's have enough left in em for more fettling.

Whereas 40's are good for 150 BHP (ish) and thats it not much more scope.

Cost wise they are generally the same - odd that one  :D

thanks for that, 45`s it is then......

Any further ideas / advice about increasing power from my Pinto greatly appriciated.....:p

Speak to Mike at Ferriday in Stafford or Rob at ProTune in Barnet for info on what and how you can get the most from your engine  :D  :D  :D  :D  ;)

Get the book how to build and power tune SOHC ford pinto engine and seirra cosworth, and take it from there, loads of information its downloadable as a pdf from somewhere.

.... if you're buying second hand best factor in some costs for choke and jet changes. Most people seem to forget this and can end up paying as much for the parts as the carbs cost in the first place.
