S8ight
general oppinions of roof boxes ? are they ok or noisey as f##k
david.c
Depends if you have a sunroof (open) or not. They do increase the wind noise, but not unbearably so. I guess it would also depend on how streamlined the box is. Mine was a cheapy Paddy Hopkirk one from Littlewoods (£79) but does the job. If you need the space, then it's a lot better than pulling a trailer. David
S8ight
no sunroof and no tow bar, looks like its a box then
Toby Mack
unless you are going to use it every week, don't buy an expensive thule or whatever. I have a cheap/large halfords one which does fine for a couple of family holidays each year. Probably depends on the car but it makes no more noise on my Saab than the roofbars do on their own (ie almost imperceptable)
Nick M
If you get one be careful to measure how high it is *before* you start your journey and keep a tape measure handy.... It's a pain in the bum trying to figure out whether the car will fit under barriers at the Eurotunnel terminal, multi-storey car parks, etc. /voice of experience
