Zetec reconditioning

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me what I'll need to do with a Zetec engine to get it to function in a westfield.  I understand that I'll need to change the oil sump and the clutch/flywheel.  Is there anything else like engine electrics I need to consider.  I plan to use carbs.

Cheers

change the water pump to a 1.8 type if it's a 2L and use an aftermarket ignition system to control the ignition if using carbs - it will use the existing sensors that are already on the engine. Just basically throw all the standard gubbins, loom etc. away.

Depends on how much is in the Budget  ???

If you don't want to spend £170 upwards on a modified sump you could fit an Escort Zetec sump which is around 25 mm shallower than a standard Mondeo sump.

For 3D ignition you could use a Megjolt system from Bill Shurvinton which is very good value for what it offers.

What Carb's are you planning on using  ???

I really do hope none of the VX guys mis-interpret this one  :D  :D  :D  :D

Didn't I read somewhere about a CVH starter motor  ???  ???  ???  :durr:  :durr:

What gearbox are you putting in MT75 or Type 9 ???

Good Luck  :D  ;)

Depending on what you change the flywheel to will depend on what clutch and starter you need. The raceline flywheel I hav e uses a cvh clutch and xflow starter.
