Timo Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 A friend of my wife called round last night for a glass of wine and revealed her latest achievement for avoiding work in the Health Service. Now we all know that the Health service is short of staff, so.... She has obtained a six month sick note for work related stress and is on full pay. She goes to work as normal and fills her own post as a temporary employee and gets paid time and a half. So, she now does two days a week and gets paid 2½ times her salary! Can the Health Service really be that easy to cheat Quote
Nick M Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I hope you threw her out on her ear and told her to p*** off and not come back until she's grown up a bit... I'm with you on this one - it absolutely has to be stopped, along with wasteful red tape. Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Bubble her to her bosses Quote
Westfields Rock On Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 good idea that is. the dont get paid much for their job compared with some places though. or so i read. Quote
taffy Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I hope you threw her out on her ear and told her to p*** off and not come back until she's grown up a bit... I agree, she probably couldent get an appointment for stress, cos the hospital was understaffed! Wasnt there a plod in the paper once who was on long term sick, but was seen refereeing footy matches. or a train driver who was off work with a sprain, who was then seen out running, the union threatened to go on strike cos the employers tried to disipline him! I dunno, the worlds gone bl**** mad! Rob Quote
Blatman Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 The world hasn't gone mad. It's just that the unions think Labour will be more receptive to industrial disputes. I don't remember hearing about sooo many potential industrial disputes on the trains and tubes (and everywhere else), and for ridiculous reasons, since the winter of discontent back in the 70's.... that was Labour too, albeit the proper left wing Labour, and not the pseudo left wing champagne socialist shower of ****e we have now... Actually, I think I'd better stop now... Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Actually, I think I'd better stop now... No keep going I am with you all the way Quote
david.c Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 She goes to work as normal and fills her own post as a temporary employee and gets paid time and a half. Surely she can't be in her exact post................can she Wouldn't someone say 'Aren't you supposed to be ill?' David Quote
