AndyC_772 Posted July 27, 2003 Share Posted July 27, 2003 The fact that it's beeping means the CPU is OK, and probably the motherboard too. Sounds like the PSU or switch to me. To check the switch: find where it plugs onto the motherboard (it'll usually be a 2-pin connector plugging onto a couple of pins of a bigger connector on the board). Make a note of exactly where it plugs in, then unplug it and momentarily short those two pins together with the tip of a screwdriver. The machine should start up; if it switches off again as you describe then it's probably the PSU (cheap and easy enough to replace anyway). If it starts OK then it's the switch.
