slippy
Any suggestions how I can cure my tail happy Westy. The Car handles really well unless I load the car up one way then switch direction e.g on a chicane ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Although enjoyable not conducive to being quick Thanks in advance
Matt Seabrook
Can of worms time now. To be honest we need to know more about how your car is set up.
slippy
Problem I have is I am a cluless tw*t, it's my first Westy and I've only had it for a few months. The car has adjustable Spax suspension but that's about as much as I can tell you. I've read about 'toe in' and laser alignment which I presume is something to do with the camber probably wrong though.
adhawkins
Rear too stiff? Tyre pressures too high? Crap tyres? As Matt said, there are a lot of potential causes for this. We'd need a little more information (tyre type, pressures and suspension settings for a start...) Andy

It could also be down to driver error Check this link out Video 1.1mb I took the corner all wrong got off the power when I should have been on the power and spun. I am now taking the corner with more commitment and going through the corner a lot faster and not spinning the car. You may have a set up problem but it could be down to the way you attack the corner sorry
slippy
Ouch !!! I would never lift off mid corner I've learnt that lesson before I would prefer to go with the rear being to stiff lol Have not got a clue how the suspension is set up, tyres are avons and I run them between about 20 -25 PSI ? Is it worth me taking it to a specialist to get it set up correctly ?
ROC
Slippy, 25psi is too high, I run my rears 20 and understand that some people use slightly less. Would be worth getting the cornerweights checked/corrected. I had the standard Spax on mine and it turned out that the springs were too long resulting in them being pre-loaded. Once they were changed for the correct length and the car was set up the handling was transformed. Rich.
Blatman
If this is your first Westfield (and maybe your first RWD car? ) then I think you have a combination of unfamiliarity with teh vehicle dynamics as well as poor set up. We've covered the basics of set up and tyre pressures many times, so put the Search function to good use and have a look around the archive. As a starting point though, set the shocks to full soft (turn the little knob thing on the shock with a screwdriver all the way anti clockwise until it stops), set the tyres to about 20psi, and see what happens. If it does something you don't like, tell us what it is, and we'll offer our opinions... again...

I must be honest untill I saw the Video I had not been awear that I had been doing it. This may or may not be the same for you.
slippy
Cheers for that Blatman I'll give that a whirl I think I probably coast round corners as well to a certain degree, I brake then hold the throttle till I'm able to nail it
Mark Stanton
and a good set-up by a recognised specialist is well worth it Try Northampston Motorsport, ProComp or Plays Kool details in club mags - just depends on who's closest to ya really - all are good
slippy
There is a place in Darlington (Teesside) which is recomended in the Club Mag, might give them a buzz and see what the crack is although I will be trying Blatmans suggestion so I can learn a bit about the set up for when I do track days etc.

slippy
Cheers for the advice gents I've done as Blatman suggested and adjusted the springs as soft as they will go and a short blast later (Rain stopped play) the car seems a lot more planted when turning or lifting off so I'll keep experimenting as I go. Matt I just downloaded you losing it on that corner nice commitment mate and your car sounds beautiful what engine is in it ?
