Arm Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 I know, but it's interesting to see how selective we can all be. And Blatters I entirely agree. Many of the arguments here have suggested 'its OK with what I've done but not what they've done 'cos they've spent more'. And 'I'll never be competative against his car because of that' - Bollo**cs Quote
windy Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 So when are next years regs due for release? so we can start to talk about what is rather than what might have been. In 2005 the MSA will print a new blue book. It will be pretty similar to the 2004 version - read that Blatters - don't get friendly with the MSA & make suggestions to them or you'll tie them in knots Quote
guy g Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Sorry to throw cold water on all this heated discussion but.... ....the question of modifications to pick-up points, non-standard wishbones etc was tested at the beginning of the 2002 Sprint Leaders season and deemed to be OK by the championship organisers according to the Blue Book definition. The BB says configuration and that is exactly what it means - it doesn't mean the same pick-up points it just means double unequal length wishbones, outboard coil over damping etc etc. The BB definition hasn't changed since 2002. I had some doubts when I did the suspension on my (now Keith's) car - that's why I used the original pick-up points with extensions bolted on rather than welded so I could argue that the original points were still used. Arm Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Thank you Guy We've now some fact and not speculation. Quote
Blatman Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Excellent May I ask, was there a written submission/adjudication? If so, would there be a way of making it public or viewing it, so that we can move on. I think it would be most useful... Blatters - don't get friendly with the MSA & make suggestions to them or you'll tie them in knots I know. It's why I said there'd be no point in asking the MSA for clarification... And Blatters I entirely agree. Many of the arguments here have suggested 'its OK with what I've done but not what they've done 'cos they've spent more'.And 'I'll never be competative against his car because of that' - Bollo**cs Yup. I'm not slower than you because of moved pick ups or whatever. I'm slower because I'm not as good or as fast as you.... yet... Anyone who thinks that these minor mods are making ALL the difference are deluding themselves, especially in the 1A tyres classes... Quote
neilwillis Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 It's like the guy who spends a fortune on a set of Ping clubs because he thinks it'll improve his swing - great news for the golf shop, but sadly not very effective. The bottom line is the driver makes the biggest difference (and I'm not talking golf clubs in this bit) That's me b*******ed then! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 I use Ping clubs and my handicap went down to 5 but not because of the clubs Twas because I was playing a minimum of three rounds a week and practising in between I'm a c**p driver, but enjoy it loads even with a new engine, not enough time to practise Anyone wanna game of golf Quote

Blatman Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Is it C******m, or are we talking about the Freestyle after market stuff? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 So what happens with the pushrod suspension that Caterham are now selling on their cars? So whats it got to do with the WESTFIELD speed series Quote
windy Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Caterham, as fitted to the SV chassis. Quote
neilwillis Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Any chance of a change in the rules so I can drive my Westie in the novice roadgoing with an aeroscreen class Mr S? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 You'll be wanting the "Red Zetec powered SEi wide driven by anone called Neil Willis" Class then The Q started 13 pages ago Quote
Blatman Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 @ Windy... Oohh, haven't seen that... yet... Quote
windy Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 So whats it got to do with the WESTFIELD speed series If someone bought a caterham with pushrod suspension they could enter it in the same class on the day that the rest of us are in. If the SS has a ruling that bans pushrods, yet the MSA permit it, you have a problem. Same goes for the 1700 / 1800 cc ruling currently in place. In my opinion it is these sorts of issues that cause the organising clubs to put ss competitors in a class of thier own (e.g. Goodwood / Shelsley) because we aren't complying with MSA rules. Quote
