scott beeland
IF I was to have a go on slicks next yr is there any point in me getting tyres to fit my 6" rims....or do I have to get rims/ tyres and go the usual route of huge rears? If 6" will be ok what sort of size/ tyre would I need? Would probly use some 2nd handers to start? What should I buy? what brand/ compound? Terry Everall
Sctt There are alot of secondhand 7"x22x13/7"x21x13 Avon slicks around for about £15 each I have used some of these on trackdays with the Busa and they are ok but I have then on 7" rims Minilite style. Lightest and cheapest may be Compomotive CXR If yo stay crossply slicks (secondhand)you could pick up 9.2" rears on say 9" rims but offsets need careful measurement etc to fit under even wide arches Ring me terry 07767 836234
ACW
Also bear in mind that most of us are using Sprint Compound slicks rather than old track / circuit slicks. With A39 / A40 compound you are unlikely to find much second hand due to the softness of the compound. That said I have two nearly new 7.2 inch A40 compound fronts.
