Kevin Wood Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 The black John Dodd so-called Rolls-Royce (actually a stretched Mk1 Capri) was at the Brighton Speed Trials in, I guess, the seventies. It was not at all impressive, very sluggish and it got bogged down every time with loads of black smoke and the poor old motor fluffing and missing. Rumour had it that it wasn't a Merlin engine at all but something dragged out of an old Well, given that there are reports of it doing 200 MPH on an autobahn and the fact that a Merlin redlines at 3000 RPM I think his gearing was probably not ideal for the speed trials. Wonderful engine in the sky - where it belongs! Kevin Quote
Thrustyjust Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 we'd better watch out.A mate who runs a machine shop has some guys who 'tweek' the go-ped things. They have clocked one at 58mph,with a cycle speedo and a very brave mate who said that it would go quicker,he just ran out of nerves!!! Quote
brianm Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Once got overtaken twice by the same s***ty brown, brush painted, 3 wheeler robin on the same 6 mile journey home from work. Said car had rear wheels like 25 litre ally beer barrels, passed me doing my 40 + 1 mph, pulled over to drop off his mate, and 3 miles further on did the same again. 10 out of 10 for effort B. Quote
