I've just gone back to working on rotation in the middle of the Sahara Desert as an IT operations / project advisor for an oil company.

3 weeks of sun and sand, no sea though or beer!!

Chartered mechanical engineer in the water industry here

It was a childhood dream to work in sewage and I achieved every bit of that dream, another one of those dinner party conversation killers when someone asks what I do. Still, not like it's an industry that can be outsourced and it's not like the demand will ever dry up suffer from boom/ bust cycles. It's far from glamorous, but it's stable.

Holy thread revival!

I work for a company that installs the Security for Tesco. Quite a mixed roll that involves Tech support, system builds (PCs, DVRs etc), software testing, enigneer/user training the list goes on haha.

Sounds rivetting. Anything to do with Kaizen/ Six Sigma/ JIT/ Lean Manufacturing?

Vaguely remember a module on these manufacturing techniques but didn't have the foggiest what was going on ... it's like ... a state of mind ... maaan

jit and kaisen, know it well. Lol. Not that i take any notice. 5s maybe or duki seiso perhaps

Im a Heating and Gas Engineer (AKA Plumber haha)

I've been at it since about 14ish...was an apprentice to my dad and been running my own business for about 20 years.!!

Im 42 now....So man and boy haha

And still not sorted how to post pics etc  :down:
