Just wondering if anyone here has been in their Westy?

Thinking of going next year, would like to hear about your experiences, tips, etc.

Should be on all westy owners top 10 list

Try and go with other people

Drive car there and back unless something major happens

Make sure you stop at every petrol station on the way

I've never been before so Q's would be

Ferry: any probs with the ramps? I've got 95mm @sump

Hotels: any suggestions WRT security

Petrol: 125 miles to the tank so hopefully no problems

Route: from Calais, which is most direct?

29th July is too close to me - I've 3 trackdays booked this year and I have'nt popped my Westy trackday cherry yet - the ring would be a baptism of fire methinks.. ???

I suppose one tip would be to get a good Euro recovery sorted - any recommendations?

No problems with Ferries at all

Some petrol stations are a long way apart.

Check out web site below and all your questions will be answered even which route to take.

From Italy, we came yet 3 times this year, with Sport 2000 and Megabusa,

no the road....drive more than 50 laps each weekend and come back...

some times with no problems..other with cars with little problems..

Nurburgring is really great for this kind of cars because you don't have

very high top speed, but in turn and breake point you gain a lot..

I remember last year a duel with a 996 GT RS (very weel driven from a local)

vs Megabusa with passenger..al that the Porks gain in straight at high speed

we regain in brake and turn speed !! was fantastic !!

Nurburgring can help us a lot to find weakness of our Westfield and to rebuilt the car

more reliable for the future doing some modifications..

www.megabusa.com  you have some camera car

in agoust we will be there from 03 to 10

Yeh I know the camp site, stayed there before, tend to go B&B these days at a kind of bikers guest house (my other toy has two wheels) a few miles out. Got used to the cold beer, warm bed and breckie :D

Havent booked yet but getting some high quotes from Hull :arse: Still, providing I am not moving house (another story), I'll be there

A group of us just got back from a trip there.  I wrote it up for a club magazine and you can find a copy here.  Apologies for anybody not using late versions of IE or Nutscrape but I just saved it quickly from Word!

To answer your specific questions:

The ferry has very gente ramps and no problems with cars lower than yours.  The train isn't so good but still OK.

Plenty of petrol stops everywhere and the motorways have lots of signs giving distance to next petrol station.

The Hotel Rieder has a huge garage for guest use.

The E40 takes you nearly all the way from Calais.  At Liege we took the E42 and then the 410 for a short distance.
