CrashBangWallop
Afternoon, people, My 40's curently have K&N bolt-on filters. However one of the actual filters is bent/distorted. Is it possible to just replace the filter rather than buy the whole, chrome casing as well? If so, any recommended places to go to (web or otherwise) Thank you very much, Neil
chazpowerslide
Hi Neil. 40-60mm ram pipes (as yours has not got any and IMO it needs them) and 80-100mm K&N or Pipercross Filters with hole in bonnet to clear them. You can buy replacement elements for your filters from Demon Theives (01978 664466) or Burtons (020 554 2281) for about £30-40 each but I would'nt bother in your case as I recon your current setup is inadequate for your engine power. For about £150-160 you could do the job properly as described above, I'll even fit them and cut your bonnet for you Chaz. Chaz
CrashBangWallop
I've just bought a dremel-a-like. If there's any cutting to be done... it's bl****-stump fingers time for me
chazpowerslide
I too have a Dermmel. Don't know how I ever coped without it!!!!!! Seriously, If you want some help with the filters let me know. I recon as your starting to think about more power (your turbo thread) a decent set of filters and ram pipes would be a good place to start. A bit of head work, fast road cam and a vernier timing pully should see a decent hike in power (20 to 30 depending in specs which is a lot from a 100bhp base) which you'll definatly notice. I think that a turbo conversion done properly will probhably end up costing more than say a Zetec conversion which will give 165bhp out of the box. I think the idea of getting hold of an old CVH turbo (ex RS Fiesta or Escort) putting it into your Westy and expecting it to be A) easy to install, B) reliable and C) perform out of the box is a bit much. Chaz.
