AJ9939
Hi, Could someone explain a bit more about Webbers carbs in simple terms please ? I have twin 40`s (on a 1700 x/flow with kent 234 cam). Is it possible to get as much power from these as you can from 45`s if you get them set up correctly ? I see people talking about getting larger jets or larger chokes for 40`s to get more performance out of them. Is there much benefit in doing this ? If not, how much more power can be expected from 45`s over 40`s. Thanks. Adrian.
Blatman
With the spec of engine you have, 45's won't make any more power over 40's. It's only when you get to producing large amounts of power that you'll need 45's. On a x-flow (and I'm no expert) I reckon you wouldn't *need* to be looking for 45's until you breech 160bhp. The differences between the two sizes of carb is in the sizes of chokes they can use. IIRC, a 40 can take a 36mm choke, a 45 can use a 40mm choke.
