I know this is just a bit of fun but I wonder if the post ranking system is setting the bar a bit high? Could it not be an incentive to encourage a wider participation - especially for newer members - in the forums? Perhaps you could progress through the ranking based on cumulative number of post views ? Other forums do this and typically after a thousand views you reach the next rank.

Isn't what you are suggesting @GCP17 already in place here - Leaderboard

Perhaps @Captain Colonial can explain how it's currently configured, if you're suggesting the levels need tweaking? His response may assist further discussion on this topic as due to an apparent lack of builds/new car purchases, I do agree the forum isn't as active as it used to be.

You know, at this point I’m beginning to think you don’t like me Ian, and you’re just finding work for me to keep me busy… 🤣

For those interested, here’s the ranks:

They are obviously adjustable in level name, target level, and levels can be added or removed.

Im on most days, read topics that look good, like or thank good posts, try to be quite active but dont seem to go up much, what do we get points for?

Posts.... as in the table above you need rather a lot... I've been a member for 4 years and am an Average Joe Driver needing another 293 posts for promotion.

Writing a build diary helps with the post count....

There’s posts and then there’s points - two different things.  Points are for reactions you get to things you post.

…as does talking a load of nonsense that people like.  Ask me how I know - I need the posts & points.

What’s the thinking basing it on reactions? It means that the majority of loyal members have no points at all. Is that an incentive?

It’s just a bit of fun that the forum software writers came up with.  Try not to read anything into it.  For instance, I’ve got a shedload of points and posts that the unaware might think demonstrates I’m wise and knowledgeable.  The reaction emojis soon to pop up at the bottom of this post will show you otherwise…
