hudsonma
I am going to build up my SDV suspension etc after the Stoneleigh show this weekend. I have heard that the MK2 Escort 'quick rack' improves the ride. I have some steering rack extensions in my kit. Does this mean I need to buy the Westfield rack or will the Escort rack fit straight in? Has anyone done this?
Mark Stanton
Westfield rack It is an Escort rack the threaded extensions should be the same Get a proper quick rack - and not a standard rack with lock stops
DickieB
It won't improve the ride - that's what shock absorbers and springs do! It will improve the driving sensation though as you won't have to do too much work on the steering wheel!
adhawkins
It won't improve the ride - that's what shock absorbers and springs do! Come now Dickie, after the excellent talk we had on Thursday, you know you should really be calling 'shock absorbers', 'dampers' Andy
ChrisG
Does the SDV not use the Sierra rack then? I assumed cos it was a sinlge donor based on a Sierra it would use that rack to save cost.
deano.1
Im building an SDV, afaik the rack is an escort mk1/2 rack but the W/F one is fitted with stops. If these stops are not fitted an SVA fail is imminent as wheels will hit body work. I fitted the W/F one but i believe you can buy these racks with stops fitted. Hope this helps, Dean
ChrisG
If it is an Escort rack, then you can either make up or buy lock stops from various suppliers like Rally Design etc. Chris
hudsonma
thanks for the help. I've noticed quick racks for sale on e-bay a lt cheaper than the Westfield one. Does anyone know if the Westfield rack is a proper quick rack?

neilwillis
Westfields sell 2 types of rack, standard and quick. Why wouldn't the quick rack be quick if that's how they describe it? Come on guys - be fair!
