Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

I've never been sure about cages where they have that bar on rose joints that comes down into the cabin. Will surely add rigidity and help prevent the cage collapsing if upside down but how safe is it if you are being thrown around inside the car, surely it will just be something else (possibly nearer) to be smashed into?

That's the petty bar. I've seen it used with rollbars to strengthen the chassis, not sure how useful it is with a full cage 🤔

That cage looks very robust tho, but I'm quite sure it isn't FIA homologated, so there is really no point on getting it instead of the Caged/Westfield one which is.

For me no down sides to a full cage, stiffens the chassis, full roll over protection, somewhere to haul yourself out, and best of all daughter can use it as a ballet bar 🤷‍♂️

Custom cage made to a very high standard, in a bigger diameter tube than the msa cage.

And the The ballet bar, 2nd position apparently 🤷‍♂️

I have just thought of a downside to a full cage.....the amount of flies and bugs that get splattered on it!

I absolutely love my full cage, for all the reasons you mentioned. I'm even up for the ballet bit!

They do state it's FIA compliant

Yeah you're right, just seen the link. It looks nice for competition, might be too much for road use 🤔

Not sure about the price, however they list free shipping in UK and EU on their website...

I would expect it to cost more than Cagedlaser to be honest (and probablu weigh more) but I do like the way it looks

I thought I had spoken to custom cages. I don't think anything is listed on their website, did you have to leave the car with them ?

I'm glad someone else has the same issue with flies i only run an rac rollback at present I drive a fair bit after dark so every couple of trips out the bar looks like it's covered in fibreglass or should I say flyberglass it's a job to clean can only imagine a whole cage being a nightmare

It's mainly driving in the dark will give you that issue, the fly count after daytime blats isn't too bad tbf.

It's not the flies and bugs that are the real issue after dark in my neighborhood it's more the large herd of deer im seriously considering a full cage myself .

Put simply there are no disadvantages and its much safer

It also gives a good mount for a detachable polycarbonate windscreen! IMG_20250529_172433_edit_3489999872937402.jpg.a5649fb2ea53015dcc4e8de93854e991.jpg

I have to say I'm not sure I entirely agree with that.

Disadvantages...

They are not cheap

You have to fit one (skills required)

They are heavy so reduce the power to weight (the weight-saving guys would have a meltdown) and the cars agility

In an accident if you are not wearing a helmet they can kill you

For some people it can make getting in and out tricky

They collect flies especially at night 🤣

I wanted to try one of those short screens with my cage, to give a bigger wind deflection but without having to have a full screen and wipers etc. Can't recall who used to make them, MoFast maybe, but they no longer do so.
