CVH1600 Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 Thanks @Captain Colonial. I'm sure the original Westfield manual states pink?.. but then again, I've lost track of how many times the manual was incorrect, particularly the pre SVA version. Points noted and will get them sorted.👍 Quote

Captain Colonial Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Engines made after 1998 normally need antifreeze that uses silicate-free, organic acid technology (OAT), usually pink or orange in colour. These types of antifreeze offer better corrosion protection so that parts don't need to be changed as often. Engines made before 1998 usually need antifreeze that isn't OAT-based and does contain silicate, are usually blue or green in colour and are safe for silicone hoses. Downside is it needs changing every 2-3 years. Quote
John Dolan - Wirral & North Wales AO Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Nice build, looks good. Ignition is the standard Ford ecu set up, with a standard road cam. Fast road cam should be fine, a wild cam that won’t tick over would be a prob. Engine runs smoother and picks up better with the vac advance connected. As for the antifreeze, as far as I understand, you should be ok as long as you don’t mix with another colour as coagulation and blockages are prone when mixed. Quote
CVH1600 Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 Found the page in the manual. Seems there is a difference of opinions 🤔 Quote

The IVA Inspection Manual, p8 of section 02B, metered emissions. Your car should be tested to default limits, the last box on the page. Good luck. Many thanks for your advice @John Dolan - Wirral & North Wales AO. It's a pass for another pre cat engine on twin Webers. Just got to wait on DVSA now. Thanks also to the wider WSCC community, as there is some really valuable advice and support on this forum - real credit to you all! Absolutely buzzing now. 4 2 Quote

CVH1600 Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Hi all, Getting a bit frustrated with DVLA now. I still haven't had the V5 issued yet and constant chasing results in excuses like "waiting to hear back from finance". I know from checking my bank that the cheque hasn't been cashed yet! How long it does it take? Our 4 days of summer are practically over and was really hoping to get it to Malvern this year as well. Quote
dvd8n Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago A mate of mine has been trying for a couple of months to get his license back after a medical issue. He's not best pleased. D Quote

That's ridiculous, but bear in mind that it's been roughly 23 working days now (Easter hols and weekends, don't forget), so I'm anticipating you'll get good news soon. Once it hits 30 working days on the 14th, keep pestering on a daily basis. Take names and reference numbers every time you talk to them and email once a week. It normally doesn't take this long at all. Make a PITA of yourself to encourage movement. If no joy after the 15th and in extremis, contact your local MP and ask for some help. I had a struggle with DVLA to fix my V5 when Swansea were adamant that my standard body Westfield was a three-seater. Quote
