It seems to be a SEiW although the centre rear view mirror mounting is, shall we say, unique and unorthodox? It would certainly make putting the top up a considerable challenge! I believe you’ll need to do some work protecting the electrics on the scuttle, they look awfully exposed and vulnerable to unexpected precipitation. Hopefully we can do enough to temp you into becoming a full member in due course. This is definitely the very best source for all things Westfield in terms of technical information, advice and ability to help remove copious amounts of cash from your wallet, aka upgradeitis. Quote

There are nearly 40 years of club magazines, build manuals, and literature available in the Downloads section at the top of the forums, and a fantastic amount of member only discussion and help in Tech Talk and FAQs. It’s a friendly club and there’s no need to feel shy about asking questions and asking for help, you’ll get a great deal out of the club if you get stuck in. Also worth telling your insurance company as there’s often discounts for club members. Quote

Detroiter Posted January 26 Author Posted January 26 Absolutely the reason i am here. i haven’t had the chance to drive the vehicle yet, Michigan weather is not permitting yet (snow). The seller did indicate that the front lifts/goes light at >85mph so I figured the setup will need checking. Assuming shocks are readily available this side of the pond otherwise a care package from the UK will likely be needed 1 Quote

This is worth knowing as there are a few different types of bodywork out there and despite looking similar, there's enough differences to make them incompatible. The underlying chassis is the same though. Keep warm, I know it was about 0f/-18 c in Chicago last week. Quote

JohnCh Posted January 27 Posted January 27 @Detroiter, congratulations on the purchase! It's always good to see another Westfield owner on this side of the pond. I was watching this auction on Bring a Trailer with interest. Based on the additional photos posted there, it's definitely an SEiW, not SEi as per the listing. I'm curious what the previous owner was doing with the dash (lots of plugged holes and it almost looks like a layer of bondo covering everything) and all the loose wires under the steering wheel? The turn signal stalk is certainly a rare modification. Do you know yet if all the electrical items work and the wiring just needs a cleanup or is there troubleshooting ahead? Apart from exposed electrics (can be easily sorted out l, but looks really good in therms od servicing) , what I have noticed - the engine is placed realy most rar as possible. Good ! Propably that is why gearstick is in proper position also. Cant see details (can You add some more pictures od engine aby?) but IT seems to be no std Zetec thermostat housing is possible to push engine and gearbox more rear. Nice solution. Spoiled (this mass distribution ) with haevy battery on front but it is easy to fix. Looks like a great car ! Have Fun ! Quote
