My renewal has just come through but the only option it gives is the £53 with paper magazine. It will not allow me to alter this. What am I doing wrong

You’re not doing anything wrong.  As has been explained many times in the forums and the magazines, that’s the price of annual membership including posted printed copies of Westfield World plus a printed annual calendar.

 

Your current membership runs out on 16 January.  At that point, you may either renew your membership as above or you can go to the Store section at the top of the forums and purchase membership with electronic copies only of Westfield World instead (with includes a copy of the calendar sent to your address) for £35 per year.

 

It is not possible to change membership packages during your current membership period and if you buy the latter now, you will lose any overlapping time on your current membership, ie. you’ll only get 11 months on your next membership period.

As above and previous, you can do it on the day, after the day at any time and the new period starts from then, or do it ahead of time but you will lose any membership time you have on your existing membership period.  In any case, it’s a renewal and not a new membership, all your details remain the same.

I have the same problem, couldn’t find the option for digital only, cancelled my renewal invoice for paper magazine and that didn’t help. Can you reactivate my renewal invoice for the digital magazine membership?

You have to buy the digital only in the store.  I did it on Friday. Trouble is I now have 2 memberships in my profile - one current and one expired.

This is but one of many reasons that I initially advised the committee to have a separate magazine subscription package and not to go down this route of tying magazine subscriptions into memberships and having different membership types - MANY reasons.  This series of scenarios is a “gift” for Admins that will keep on giving for years to come, generating lots of extra work for unpaid volunteers.

 

If members are considering changing their membership from with / without printed mags to without / with, please wait until your current membership has expired first and your membership status indicates “WSCC S.O.R.N.” before purchasing the membership package of your choice.

 

 

@Stuart I’ve updated your profile manually to show you’ve renewed.  Not having a go at you personally or the committee either, just highlighting that things are not always as easy as pressing a few buttons backstage.  The system has limits and shortcomings, and this is one of them.

I paid £18 for the real magazine. I don’t intend to renew my membership. Will I still receive the magazine or should I ask for a refund?

@Captain Colonial FYI I did wait until it had expired - I actually had a message telling me it had.  I also still have one expired and one current membership in 'Manage Purchases'

You will always have that in your ‘Manage Purchases’ as they are both subscription packages, no need to worry.

As I mentioned in this post on 25/11/24:

 

“3) Already Purchased Magazine Subscriptions 

 

If you have already purchased a UK or Overseas magazine subscription, the amount you paid has been added as a credit to your account, which you will be able to use towards membership renewal at time of purchase.  (If you would prefer a refund instead of a credit, please PM @Trevor Little (Trevturtle) - Treasurer directly.”

Once you stand down as a AO and your membership period is over, and as you’ve stated that you don’t intend to renew, then no you won’t receive any magazines.  You should request an £18 refund by sending a PM to @Trevor Little (Trevturtle) - Treasurer.  The separate magazine subscription package you purchased is no longer available, hence the reason why an £18 credit was put on your account.
