I have a Mega S2000 with stock engine with Omex 600 ECU and no cat but stock silencer mapped by Northampton Motorsport in 2021 (although only 2000 miles ago). See attached dyno plot with air fuels.

On the track when the car is hot on a trailing throttle but still in VTEC revs then getting back on the throttle I get big flames of unburnt fuel out of the exhaust.

Any thought son this?

Yeah Troy will most likely know best what to do

This was mine with Damian at Daytuner just before he (mostly) mapped it out.

My 1548cc Busa used to do that and I just left it alone.

A lot of cars do it especially when exhaust temps are high

un burnt fuel igniting in the hot exhaust

think I’d rarther have that then lean

Yes - that front number plate screams “pull me over and write me a ticket”.  Be careful out there.

Thanks for all your feedback, what I'm hearing is that it's not generally considered to be harmful to the engine, which is reassuring..

@Captain Colonial Photo was taken on the track ! Anyway hopefully flames would distract the police from looking at the number plate 😀

Agree - the Javelin photographer always likes  a good flame-out shot 😁
