I just renewed the insurance on my westy with Roadsure for the 2nd year, and it feels like only yesterday I first drove it

30 years old (plus wife 28)

4000miles pa

'90 SeiW

1.6 4A-GE engine (160bhp)

No claims or convictions

The renewal was £154, at that price I didn't bother ringing round for an alternative.  That price also includes RAC cover.

I was with Footman James until recently, and although I can't fault their service, and their quote was competitive for 4500 miles, when I wanted to increase to 6500 miles they wanted £190 extra, MSM and Roadsure only wanted less than £50 for the same.

just done a ring round and ended up renewing with Roadsure. £2 more than my existing policy but doesn't have the silly MOT rule. (plus breakdown cover as Jason R says)

Oddly I am paying £2 more than Jason R, his car is better spec than mine and I am 10 years older than him and I think we both have Guildford postcodes. Might be the SP30 my wife has I guess but they claimed that would make no difference.

BTW. Roadsure asked if I had a bike or car engine. When I said car he said "that is ok then". I didn't ask why he made that comment but it implies they don't like bike engines so much ???

First insurance with a 2litre Lotus engine, fully comp, girlfriend as 2nd driver, £100 excess and 40+ age. Got a quote from Roadsure @  £148.00 which beat all other by far.

One company wanted almost £500.00, how do they work that out?

Yes my postcode is GU, I am surprised that you paying £2 more.  Maybe it's mileage allowance, mine includes for 4,000pa.  I think that Roadsure take the NCD on another policy into account as well, could that be the difference?

I remember when I first got a quote from Roadsure all they were interested in was the size of the engine and the quote was generated by this.

Just had quote from MSM  ...£380 for 1800 Zetec for 7500k miles per year and second driver ...No NCB but both clean licences and no accidents in last 7 years (ages 35 and 52)

Personally i think thats abit high  .

Hi Jason,

Roadsure claimed they didn't take NCD into account, didn't ask for any info anyway! I've gone for 4000 miles too.

I am suspicious that my postcode isn't helping. They reorganised the postcodes in fleet a couple of years ago and gave us a new on. I suspect their computer has no history on the new postcode so gives an average weighting rather than one that really reflects the low crime rate in the area. The new postcode is a lot of hassle all round, loads of computer systems don't know it exists yet!

No way of proving this isn't just paranoia though.....

Does anyone have any experience with claiming from Roadsure? come out very cheap for my quote as well, so am tempted to go with them.

cheers,

Got quoted £469 for a 2.0 vauxhall 1988 pre litigation. Fully Comp. 21 years old, 3 points SP50 and 1 no fault accident. That was with MSM, didn't think it was too bad considering my age.

There is (or at least was) a useful list of willing insurers on www.totalkitcar.com

I started at the top and rang them. Some were remarkably competitive.
