Could be worse, could have failed after you bought it!

I second this!

Imagine driving home, only for that to happen! 😬

I sincerely hope the owner shut the engine off before it overheated.  After he gets it sorted, I’d want to be there to see and hear a cold start, and a full heat cycle including thermostat opening and cooling fan operation, before parting with my cash.

Also a little lesson for us all - do not ignore or delay replacing a weeping core plug!

I went for test drive today, and to hopefully buy the car today, but had a message from the owner on my way to say the weeping core plug had entirely failed when he took the car for a last drive. Unfortunately I had to turn around and go home. He’s going to fix it and hopefully get back in touch.

Offer to buy it from him as a non runner at a reduced price that's the way too get a good deal

Hey 1-16

I’ve just brought a Seight on Friday and was looking at this one but couldn’t get hold of him.

don’t give up on a V8 mate as I’m already in love with mine they are awesome.

He’s been ill and in hospital hence selling, I had the same trouble. He’s still waiting on the part to fix it but shouldn’t be long now. Shame we’re losing the weather now so may not get much use now this year.

Yeah nice idea but it’s only a £10 fix, don’t think he’s going to go for that!

I test drove the car at last today and unfortunately there was an issue with a hard juddering or hesitation on heavy acceleration.

It was absolutely fine when driving normally

but under full throttle at around 4K it juddered badly like it was hitting the rev limiter.

Hopefully an easy fix but I wasn’t happy to take the car as it was.

Keep at it - this car will be perfect by the time you've finished!

To be fair, at 4k you weren't too far from the limiter anyway.

Car is sorted, plugs were changed and now it’s running well.

This is such a similar story to when I bought my Lotus Exige.

I so wanted to just buy it despite it having a bit of hesitation on full throttle. But my mate who, I wisely chose to be my anchor man, said “no, walk away until it’s fixed. Otherwise you could be chasing this ‘easy fix’ for months and many £££”

It was just a case of new plugs and I have been a very happy owner for over a year now 👍

Wise move!

Have you bought it then…?

Not quite, hopefully as soon as I can get to see it again.

You'll be soon on a first name basis with the petrol station attendant ;)
