adhawkins Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 Can't be nice not having the car on the doorstep. I used to have a kart with a mate, and the main hassle was that to use it we had to drag it 40 odd miles down the motorway... Now, if the urge take me I just jump in the Westfield and go. Most satisfying Andy Quote
Persil Posted April 4, 2004 Author Posted April 4, 2004 Yup its most annoying...although atm im still working on it so its no big problem atm. Things might change when its all legal and i have to drive the 25 miles or so to pick it up. Although at least i know its safe where it is due to the garage being part of my wifes buisness and fully alarmed . So are you local to me Andy or somewhere else in the country? Persil Quote
adhawkins Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 I'm in Swindon. Work in Newbury and occasionally take the car there. Not had much use out of it yet this year, but hoping to change that once the wedding is out of the way First airfield day of the year booked for May 10th Andy Quote
timd Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 And we need IRC because......... Very good point. Well presented! Quote
scruffythefirst Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 And we need IRC because......... The boardroom is slow and some people like going quickly Scruffy (so bored, so utterly bored) Quote
David Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 Persil is this another lingo?, im lost, ATM,PM,IRC,PIXELS, AVATARS, whats it all about? PS I listen to Terry Wogan in the mornings so that explains a lot. Quote
Persil Posted April 4, 2004 Author Posted April 4, 2004 ATM = At the minute PM = Private Message IRC = Internet Relay Chat Pixels = The little dots that make up a picture Avatar = The picture on the left (normally a Westy) Hope that helps Dave And blatman by yer post does that mean you would not be interested in IRC? Persil Quote
felters Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 IRC = Internet Relay Chat not to be confused with IIRC = If I Remember Correctly Quote
Blatman Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 And blatman by yer post does that mean you would not be interested in IRC? No, I wouldn't. However, I have *never* used an IRC channel/chat room in my life, so I don't know what I'm missing, so to speak. However, I really can't see the point. If there was anyone I'd like to converse with in that fashion, I pick up the phone. IMHO, IRC is great for teenagers who want to gossip after school without running up a huge phone bill, and of course, they can be on line together as a group...... Also, IRC may be good for family who are far apart (living in different countries, for example), where again, phone call costs may be an issue. But for grown ups who are all within a (very) few hundred miles of each other, with access to BB type facilities such as this, phone numbers are easy to get and pass on......... However, don't let my opinion put you off. Why not start a poll, to gauge opinion? Quote
Persil Posted April 5, 2004 Author Posted April 5, 2004 Well i am sure certain chat rooms are full of Kids/teenagers (more like 90% ) But having the abilty to set one up allows a certain degree of anonmity which would allow members and people who were interested in Westy (or maybe other types of 7 cars) the chance to talk in peace . The concept may seem alien to some and by the look of the thread with 200+ views and only a handfull of replys its not something that most people would be interested in. Anyway my offer still stands for anyone needing photos adjusted/resized/cloned etc . You can contact me by PM or Email .. Regards Persil Quote
Blatman Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 As I said, don't let my negativity put you off. I have no frame of reference for using an IRC channel, so I have no idea what they're like. I just know that it's never interested me........... As for anonimity, I have no idea who you are, and you have no idea who I am........ I do find it immensely pleasing that a non member is so ready and willing to give something back to the Club without having to be prompted/cajoled/tortured. More power to you...... Quote
Persil Posted April 5, 2004 Author Posted April 5, 2004 Thanks Blatman The anonimity part was more towards having peace from other IRC and chat room users and only have people interested in Westys . Having run a IRC channel for over 2 years the people who use my channel have all became good friends online and in real life . But i also agree with Andy that it might subtract from those users of the boardroom so its a bit of a double edged sword. Persil Quote
