Anyone with a 200 BHP Zetec local to South Wales - Considering coming back the fold

About 10 years ago I sold my old Westy (2l Zetec on twin 45s) and I now own a Supercharged VX220 (250 BHP)
 

I do miss the Westy a bit, and am considering coming back to build a project car with my son,  but worried I will miss the pace of the VX220 (awesome over taking car!!).  Being the engineering geek that I am, Ive plotted the power curve of the VX220 against that of a dunnel spec 200hp Zetec and when you adjust for the different car weights they pretty much match up BHP per tonne across the whole rev range.  My VX is 875kg and the Westy would be about 650kg

 

Does anyone local(ish) to Cardiff have a 200 BHP Spec Zetec I could possible get a passenger ride in and compare to my VX (happy to bring along the VX and return the favour)

 

Quite serous about the switch back, so willing to travel a bit to some wider areas meets if there are cars out there...

Forgot to add, as the Westy is only 75% the weight of the VX I`ve only plotted 75% of the VX power.  Please shout if there is error in my logic...

Hi Mat, I'm local to you (just up the road in Cwmbran) but I'm of little use as I've got a ZX10R Megablade. 

 

I know @Fat dad is local too, but has an S2000 F20. I know there are a few guys just over the bridge who maybe able to help.

 

@Flying Carrot Steve is in Bristol I believe, he maybe able to point you in the right direction 👍

Hi Mat, I'm north east of Bristol. I have a Zetec Turbo with more than  200bhp, it has 4 stage boost control in the cabin but I'm afraid the lowest I can make it go is 210bhp 😂

I'd gladly take you out in mine soon as I can, atm I've done my left knee in quite badly, hoping to try and drive the Flying Carrot again soon and see how it holds out. Missed Malvern because of it 😤😤😤

 

I have mates in South Wales who keep asking me to come over for a bbq so maybe I'll even be in the area in the next couple of months.

 

The power to weight of your VX is about 285bhp/tonne, my car is a lot more but if you tell me how heavy you are kitted up I'll be able to work out which boost level to use to give the closest approximation with both of us in the car. 

 

Also bear in mind of course that it's a turbo so not only behaves slightly differently but also has massive amounts of torque, a lot more than any equivalently powered NA car I've seen stats for. 

 

Really I guess what you need is a powerful NA Zetec to try?

I'm in also Bristol so bit far from Cardiff but i do have a just over 200bhp zetec r engine, basically cams and headwork and Itbs.

its 560kgs as its an SEW (live axle) so its lighter and the car does not have anything on it that does not need to be there, grp seats, no carpets or windscreen etc so might not be the comparison your looking for but happy to take you out if your in the area
