stu999 Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 Time to fill the blanks...... The thing I found quite amazing about the AVOs is when you wind up the rebound on them and push in the strut into the damper body it doesn't hardly come back out LOL - er - so wheres the rebound ? That is the rebound. On a normal shocker, the rebound (or the resistance to opening back out) can be two to three times more than the force required to compress. This is the bump/rebound ratio. Gas filled shockers will extend outwards on their own accord, due to the pressurized gas filled sack inside the shocker. This is there merely to stop air mixing with the damping oil on a conventional shocker which affects the damping. Keeping the gas 'in a bag' allows the oil to expand, but not mix. As a sideline, this also acts as a 'spring' allowing the shocker to extend on it's own. Otherwise it works exactly the same. Cheers, Stu. Quote

samcooke Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 A sierra 4x4 instead of a westfield for track use? Nice. Quote
Blatman Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 Could be an Escort.........It'll need big power, and rain, to be quicker than a Westfield though...... Quote
deadscoob Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Stu, Ian hasn't been clear - he must have had a long day The AVOs he's talking about - we tried the rebound (by hand so not scientific lol) from lowest to highest setting and the difference was basically unnoticeable - this was on all 4. It just seemed that the adjusment made no difference whatsoever. Quote
