Hope you have some success with getting it started tomorrow.

I’ve shared it with our local WhatsApp group to see if anyone is available to take a look if not.

Does this mean it's going now or is this a video from before it packed up?

It's a video the seller provided as he bought the car as a non runner but they managed to get it running by giving the carbs a quick overhaul.

The chap at the docks has had my phone number since Fri with the offer of someone close to the car to call me for phone advice. They've possibly flooded the engineer or the switch for the fuel pump may have been knocked off when the toneau was fitted when it was parked up at the docks.

I suspect the dock workers aren't going to be able to put too much time and effort into this as they'll have lots of cars to load and it will just be easy for them to say, sorry it wouldn't start and charge daily storage etc. They will need to start it at least twice. One to move it from where it's parked to the loading lanes before the vessel arrives and then again to load onto the vessel. It won't be easy driving it with dockers size 12 safety boots!

If/when they call I should be able to advise on how to check if the fuel pump is running and how it's recommended to start it. However if I'm not available at the time they call, this won't help. I'll call the chap at the docks again this morning and see if I can convince them to try today.

Though if there are any members close by that would/could pop over that would be a great option to have. If anyone could help, please let me know and I'll explore when today/tomorrow you could pop in etc.

You would think they could just push it or tow it onto the boat, it's not that it's a heavy car.

yep, but not in today's H&S focused culture! I can't imagine how a dock workers size 12 steel toe caps will pedal it either! 🤦‍♂️

I'm really curious to know how it went yesterday morning?

Is the car now sailing to Greece??

Sadly not, went from bad to worse.

Boat delayed by a day due to poor weather. Specialist moved back a day to suit.

Car would crank but not fire, no spark. Loose wire found under dash and got car running, but it wasn't running very well, suspect plug or igintion issue. Tried to warm engine up and it backfired (not unusual for a car on twin webers), however air filter caught fire. Fire put out, but possible slight fuel leak on one carb and dock workers definately don't want car on the ship as it is.

Hence it's going a way for a few days to be fixed properly before it's booked back on a boat to Greece.

Eeek!

Still, at least going away for a proper fix will get it there eventually.

All part of the adventure and fun that is owning a Westy!

A normal day in life of a classic car owner I'd say! Thanks Ian
