I'm a little reticent to post the advert I have seen on here as I do like the look of it and interested but where I am currently in Australia until April, can't do much about it, so don't want to post the advert and then someone else in my position see it and nab it before me! However, if it is meant to be, it will be and as everyone else has said, don't buy the first one you see....but also if you do, you won't regret it neither haha! The car I have seen is a SEiW, 2 ltr Zetec on Webbers with a Type 9 gearbox and LSD. Has the full wet weather gear but I am unlikely ever to use it! Especially as I spend most of the year out of the country anyway working at sea, it will be very much a toy and something to tinker with, with my (currently) 16 month old Son who is growing up too fast! No better place to teach a kid how to fix a car than on something that is exposed so quickly and so simple. Really appreciate all the advice though, keep it coming! I live in Hedge End, so not far from Alton, Lymington, etc so when I get it, be fantastic to see you all! Stupid question, but how do I see when the meets are? Thank you all! For meets, have a look in the Local Area Meets section but not every area posts regularly there, the definitive list is printed in the club magazine with meet frequency, location and the AO contact details. As you work away they'll be a couple of mags waiting for you at your home address.
Ewan
Definitely try to get to a local meet, as that way you’ll see a mix of cars and be able to narrow down what you do/don’t want. I knew nothing about Westfield’s when I bought mine, and hadn’t even seen it. Just met a chap who said he’d had a SEiGHT for 15 or so years and hadn’t used it, he then showed me a photo and I bought it. It was then delivered to me in Dorset in its trailer, from its storage barn in Suffolk. So the first time I saw it was when we opened the trailer in my unit. Not the conventional way to buy one, admittedly, but it worked for me! Since then I’ve had various changes made so that it perfectly suits my physique and driving needs. So even if the car you get isn’t “perfect” for you, it can easily be adapted to your requirements. And buying new bits is all part of the fun. Can’t beat the simplicity of carbs and as I work away for over 7 months of the year with the car parked up, I didn’t want any computers to ruin my fun when I got home! it does have a good appetite for V power though! Haha

Haha If you are parking it that long, run the car out of fuel on the carbs, if you have a switch on the dash to do that, failing that pull a fuse. Had huge issues with water from this modern E5 sitting in the float bowls ( I left mine for 6 months) - resulting quite obviously in the car failing to run. Also keep as little in the tank as possible, again for decreased water collection issues. EFI cars don't appear to have the same issues due to the higher pressure they run at ( atomising the water/ fuel mix ) whereas on low pressure systems ( carbs) this does not happen. Correct, Webers are not known for their efficiency when it comes to fuel use.

Richard (OldStager)
@Graham Harvey I am not an advocate of end users using potions in fuel or any so called device you "pop" in your tank. You are more than welcome to try it however, and report back on the results. Unless this stabiliser somehow neutralises the alcohol to the point it will no longer absorb water of course, however if that is the case what has now happened to the octane rating of the fuel you are now left with ?. The ethanol is being used as a booster with this E fuel, you can quite easily remove the ethanol before putting it in your tank but its a messy process, however if you do you will need to replace that with a octane enhancing potion. The best ( and least expensive ) option is to not leave fuel in the carbs in the first place, and either run your tank dry or as near to as you can. I think you'll find the colour is Westfield Racing Green, BRG is a lighter green.

Right you are, sounds like the excuse I don't need to give the car a good run before I go away to sea!! Thank you!

Means if i need to touch up any of the minor scratches I won't be using the shade of green now! Thank you!!

I'll get shot by all the old school racing boys now 😬

So it's a posh colour as well 😊
