Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset
Weather dependent this one, but I have three hours from 10.15am until 1.15pm on Saturday 3rd Feb and thought I could dive up to Cheddar Gorge and back to make the most of it. Mrs Stu is away for the day, and I will be dropping my small person in Yeovil for 10.15am, then plan to follow the attached route which should get me back in plenty of time. Feel free to join me either from Yeovil or we can meet anywhere enroute. I have a fixed timeline so can’t be late back to Yeovil otherwise….. 😬🤣 Let me know if you are interested, might even be nice to catch up with any Bristol area members albeit relatively briefly.@Chris Broster - Bristol & Bath AO @Flying Carrot Steve I will make a call on Friday based on forecast.

I’ll likely check the satellite images on Saturday morning to make a final decision.

How the heck does that happen?!

I'll keep an eye on it but I have to be honest and say it's starting to look unlikely I will be able to get there now. Not just the weather but I got a buyer for another kit I own yesterday so I'm swapping garages so I can work at home this weekend on the one being sold. Has to be done tomorrow as it's the only time I'll have help to unload it and swap them over. Good luck with the wet stuff if you do go. Do you have weather gear? I'm sure we can meet up this year though, soon as decent weather arrives. Maybe we can find a venue where are you guys and all us lot from up here could rendezvous for a coffee etc? I'm sure @Chris Broster - Bristol & Bath AO would be up for that? There's a place in the Mendips not far from Cheddar Gorge called The Castle of Comfort (great name) I've never used it but bikers meet there so must be half decent. That might be worth a look. Huge car park! Or maybe somewhere south of the Mendips if you know of anywhere? Plenty of time to arrange anyway. Get loads of cars there, a joint manoeuvre, great picture and story opportunity for the Westfield World magazine!

Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset
Oh poo, not looking great but I may brave it anyway. I do have a half hood, half doors and wind deflectors so it is quite well protected. Would be great to meet up with Bristol area cars, so stay in touch and we will see what we can do when the weather improves.
Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset
I’m going to give this a go! Satellite looks ok, some rain over Ireland currently, loosely coming this way but I suspect that will die out before getting here. I’ll leave the roof and doors on anyway, might be greasy out there but will take it steadily. At very least, I’ll drop the short person in Yeovil then head up to Somerton to say hello to @Roger Goodliff. Hopefully we will then head up to Cheddar and loop back round again. All being well, we will be around Cheddar around 11.15 to 11.30.

Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset
Well, it didn’t stay dry, but we had a good run up to Cheddar and back. I met Roger in Somerton, and we headed North past Glastonbury, Meare and on to Cheddar. The weather got worse as we went on, drizzly rain and then up in the clouds on top of the hills. We had a good run up through the gorge, not much other traffic around. The roads were quite slick but quite manageable. We took it steady, it was just good to be out and about. Roger was topless with a coat and looked quite happy, I had my half hood on and stayed nice and dry. I’m back in Yeovil in plenty of time to pick my daughter up, so this is an easily repeatable run if it happens to be my turn! I had the Insta 360 running, so I’ll see if there is anything decent on there and will post it up here and on FB.
