bit late to reply but I've just got out of hospital (Harley St, no less) and they didn't have Internet access!

I am still running a 1999 'S' reg VW Passat 1.8SE estate owned since it was 6 months old/6k miles. It has now done 117,000 miles and frequently tows a large box trailer weighing around 1000kgs loaded up.

It has just had another MOT at a cost of £45 for one front caliper - this is the first non-service item it has had since I bought it! The clutch etc are all original and although it's a bit thirsty when towing (21mpg) it is so solid I don't really want to change it until it won't go any further........

Oh yeah, and I hate Fords   ;)  :p  :D  :D
