Insurance...policy renewal!!

Recommended Posts

Any ideas for this year's renewal...no idea that it was to go up in price!!

It's understandable with a price rise but why is my bike insurance so cheap with the sister company?

With Adrian Flux..it was so simple last year and A Plan had no chance of my business with the hassle over immobilizers!

Any good ideas would be appreciated...as I'm struggling to keep up with the bills!

AiB perhaps, they're a sponsor, too. Found them very reasonable, though to be fair, only used them once. I've had such good service from A Plan, most of my insurance is now with them. Sorry you had a negative experience.

Thanks Dave for the advice, will check as I got a small amount off my original quote but not much from Adrian Flux.

Will try both companies.. :)

There are significant prices rises across most motor policies as a lot of companies lost money in the last 18 months because of the cost of claims. Im hoping that the specialist insurance is not hit quite so hard with the smaller number of claims recorded but expect rises

That was a big price rise with my every day car now on 3rd party, fire and theft...usually no difference but this time it was a good idea for now!

I'm insured with Adrian Flux too, and mine has just gone up by £8 - from £200 to £208. That does sound like a big increase for you, so definitely worth shopping around a bit.

AIB were very good the last 3 years for me. Dropped again last month to £160 all in against the same cover (fully comp, 2000miles, agreed value) last year at £172. Nobody else could come close- I think APlan was closest at £215 with all their discounts applied.

Just re-insured with AIB

£150 for myself and other half, 5000 miles and agreed value. £8 more than last year.

Really happy with the renewal

Thanks for the reply...I have my insurance now with AIB ...still a shock at £307 but least it's fully comp. My everyday car was bad too, that is now 3rd party, fire and theft as I didn't get to phone around.

Seems insurance companies are complaining of increased part and paint costs but why is my bike so cheap!

Just surprised as AIB charged me £307 even after pushing it but I think the price of the car made the difference?

Overall my age, the area and driving record ...should be no problems?

Mine was definitely from £228 to £351...they came to £337 after complaining!!😄

Thanks for your replies on Insurance, I think the main reason for the rise on my insurance was the Toybox price of the car..my mileage is 5000, no track days but I never get a price and it always involves a call back? Insurance all sorted and the MOT ..soon the road tax at £325!

Insurance costs are going up and it is to cover for increased write offs. As cars have become more complicated there has been an increase in write offs now up to almost 400000 and a billion pounds each year. This has to be covered from the overall money raised.

The other thing that will no doubt have an effect in years to come for Westfield drivers is the cost of a new one has risen significantly, as have the cost of spares to repair damaged ones. This will eventually trickle through I suspect with increases as those dreaded algorithms start to kick in.

Ringing around and playing one off against another is always worthwile if you have the time, but make sure that you are comparing like for like.

On my motorbike for example, several were cheaper than I pay, however their cover was less, so if the bike was garaged it was X, but that meant you could never leave it on the drive unattended, say whilst it cooled down as if it was stolen it was not covered.

It is also worth mentioning that if you go for agreed cover you look at the value closely
