X963LUY anybody know this car?

Hi,

So my first post on the forum, I almost became a westfield owner at the weekend.

Having jumped on the train for the two hour journey from Axminster to Woking I went to look at the subject car X963LUY and unfortunately it wouldn't start, the car turned over and almost fired into life but the fuel relay was clicking continuously so the seller is going to take it the garage to have it repaired. It also needed a microswitch on the brake pedal as it had broken so there were no brake lights.

Being an older car I was wondering if any members have ever come across it before? It is a limited edition factory built sport carbon but had a new engine in 2008 and now runs dunnell zetec. The seller has recently had to replace the ECU due to water ingress, strangely its mounted on the bulkhead in-between the engine and the cockpit, a place I can imagine that water ingress is of a higher risk if caught in the rain. Looking forward to hearing from anyone that might know the car.

Cheers all,

Dan from Chard, Somerset.

Welcome Dan. I don’t know the car, hopefully someone will, but just wanted to say hello from Crewkerne.

Once you get sorted there are plenty of us around for meets and drive outs.

Thanks Stuart,

Who's your go to garage for servicing, MOT, diagnostic and repair?

There don't seem to be any specialists in the Chard/Crewkerne area.

Thanks,

Dan.

So far I’ve just used my little local garage in Crewkerne just down the road and they have coped with basic service and MOT. They do see a few similar cars so know what to expect.

There are a few places like Tipton Garage who come recommended for tuning and repairs etc, though not Westfield specialists.

Hi @DanH I am also local to you near Ilminster and like Stu don’t know anything about the car you’re looking to buy unfortunately.

As for servicing, I try to do most of it myself, only last week I had to take my diff out to change a leaky seal. I have also changed my own cambelt in the past, I find working on my car quite satisfying, they are not terribly complicated so providing you have space & tools I would say just give it a go.

You’re in the best place for knowledge & advice!

Good luck with your search and once you have one quite happy to go for a blat!

Thanks Matt that's good to know, I definitely don't mind having a go at bit of spannering.

  • 2 weeks later...

Its not uncommon to have the ECU mounted on the scuttle but not low down on the bulkhead

Checked on Vehicle Smart app and it's currently SORN and the MOT runs out in 48 days(3/10/2023). Is he putting a new MOT on it for you? If not it might be a good idea to request one as its virtually due. Could save you a few pounds and also peace of mind!

I agree, I asked the same but his MOT guy is away for a couple of weeks, £500 off the asking price so a compromise but it looks healthy to be honest, there is no corrosion around the suspension or brakes so I feel confident of its condition.
