Peter (Monty)
I have been debating whether I should swap my windscreen for the tall version before fitting for the first time, in case it's not a direct swap and I end up having to move the pillars. Based on the image from the parts shop, the standard screen is about the same height as the top of sport turbo seats, I think? I'm 6'3'' (although a lot of that is below the waist). I will very likely want to use sidescreens and an MSA half hood in the future as well. In a photo from my original factory visit (car with aeroscreen), it seems I'm about 1 inch taller than the top of the sport turbo seat headrest. (I'm surprised I didn't go for the tall windscreen to begin with, unless I wasn't aware of it at the time - I can't actually remember when/where I bought the windscreen that I have in storage now!) Based on the above, would you recommend I go for tall windscreen from the start? Standard: Tall:
Euan Hoosearmy
I'm 6,4 and my head is way over the top of the decorative roll-bar. I've a standard screen and just live with the buffeting. For long dual carriageway runs I'll wear a helmet but a taller and functional roll-bar is way higher on my list than a taller screen. Quinten
My car has a standard floor and I went from standard to tall windscreen and it was the best (expensive!) decision I made. It means that I'm now looking normal through the windscreen instead of hunching down to ignore the top of the windscreen in my line of sight. I'm 6'5 for reference and I have shell seats that are mounted to the floor as low as they can be. If you can afford it, do it. The mounting points are the same (or very similar) from memory. If you haven't fit a screen yet, you may want to change the angle a little bit, but I just re-used the same mounting holes and as a result doors and deflectors are fitting the same way as before too.
Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO
Bear in mind there are taller side screens to go with the taller windscreen. Useful if considering a half hood. Not tried, but presume “standard” side screens will fit as I believe the same pillars are used, but you will end up with a gap to the half hood I suspect. Just a thought.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
My understanding of the taller screen is that while it does use the same uprights, it has greater rake than the standard screen when used with the matching side screens, hood etc. Theres nothing to stop you fitting it at the same angle as the standard screen though, if not using the taller side screens, hood etc. Also, perhaps not relevant in this case, but for others that come across this later. The standard cosmetic roll bar was supplied in a taller version for use with the taller screen, this is important if planning on using the matching FW full hood. There is no full hood option, to the best of my knowledge, when using the tall screen on a ZK tub car. Though the screen itself, side screens and taller roll bar would all fit OK.

Quinten, did you purchase the tall side screens too? I am thinking of taking the plunge and buying a new taller windscreen, I currently have normal side screens and a half hood. I am unsure whether the normal side screens and hood can be used and if they will look a little odd. The top edge of lower side screen may also create a blind spot.…. Quinten
You mean the doors? Yes, I have a set of (normal) doors that came with the car when I bought it which were fitted with the previous (normal height) windscreen. I had to get new hinges as the taller windscreen had a different hinge mounting method than the previous windscreen, but they fit just as good to the taller windscreen as they did to the normal height windscreen. I have no roof though, and vision is already impaired somewhat when using the doors, but as I rarely use the doors, it's not a problem for me. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
There can be issues other than height when using the standard side screens with the taller windscreen; BUT if you have fitted the taller screen in place of an existing standard screen and don't change the mounting holes for the screen uprights you should be OK. - When fitted as standard, the taller screen is actually angled back more than the regular screen, and my understanding is the taller side screens have this extra rake built into them. Without extensive modification, only the half hoods work with the taller screen, normally.
Naranja_Al
Thanks @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman I was intending to install the taller screen using the uprights in the same position but I wonder how much more ‘upright’ this makes the screen than Westfield intended. Moving my uprights might be tricky as they appear to of been bonded and bolted in position. I want to maintain the doors as in my experience they offer good protection from buffeting. In addition, whilst I have a half hood, I’ve never used it and I don’t carry it on the car either anymore - it ruins the lines and look somewhat in my opinion! 🤣 @Peter (Monty) did you change your screen in the end? Burgerbob
There are some cheap tall doors on eBay, if you've not seen them. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276143577709?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=6mI_2eVQT1q&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=V9ghMc1HQ6u&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
